O Christmas Tree!

I am just now getting around to posting pictures of our Christmas tree. This is mine and my Honey's first tree w/o kids in about 24 years. I love putting up the tree, but Honey could not get into it. Once it was up he liked it. We are just having a hard time getting used to the Emptiness of our Nest... anyway, this tree is beautiful-- as all Christmas trees are in my opinion.

One thing I have to say is that not many 'ornaments' were added to the tree except for the angel topper that I bought about 20 years ago, a few strands of gold beads, and 'cranberry beads' (my personal favorites). I mainly filled in my tree with eucalyptus branches, twigs from the yard, pine cones from the yard and pictured below a few old bottles tied with raffia to the tree. Oh yes~ and a paper chain made from a yellowed paper back that had gotten water damaged (i actually copied this idea from some other blog-- can't think of who right off; but I've seen others doing it and thought it was a NOVEL IDEA!) You girls out there in blog land have some I-good-deas!

Enough chatting...

I'll let the pictures speak for themselves... Enjoy!

After seeing them on here I must apologize for the quality-- cell phone pictures. My Christmas tree has never looked so PINK before!

Anyway-- there it is in all its glory! I hope you enjoyed seeing it.

Merry Christmas
God Bless us Every One!

My first furniture feature friday

* EDITED TO SAY :

This is a Re-post of mine when I was first starting out.
I am linking this to Prior lives new

Prior lives Party!

She is going to have this once a month- It is small right now ; but I hope it will grow!

Get over there and check it out.
She has some really neat posts.

The reason from me linking this to her party is because I think of the prior life this ottoman had- just in our possession.

The dress- well, I wonder who wore it before it was handed down to my daughter?
What was the occasion?
Did they wear it with boots?
It looks like a winter fashion.

I like the print on the dress. The fabric is so soft.
Now- I love having my feet rest there.

********************End of Edit*****************

That is a picture of a dress... until today it was just hanging in around in the closet -- leftovers from the last daughter to move out. With it (and her permission of course) I turned this ...

into something chocolate-y sweet! Of course I painted it flat black and brushed on some (not ORB) but 'fired steel' semi-gloss-- (some oops paint I scored for $3.88) Did I mention that Ooops! paint is my favorite color? I have used this little quart of oops paint on several items lately and since it is semi-gloss I like the finish it give to my flat black spray paint. A matte finish.

Anyway, I have loved this ottoman and it has been part of our household for years... when we gave the furniture away that matched it (forever ago) this got left behind by the happy recipients of said furniture. I've never done anything with it except put this awful slip cover over it and then cover it with this woven rug... which does keep the dirt down and tosses into the wash way easier than the slip cover.

Anyway... here is today's New and Improved Ottoman.

(corner trim close up)

Ta-da!

I love it and am adding it before it is too late... to the Furniture Feature Friday Post at Mustard Seed Creations... Hope I'm not too late!
