:: Update on SCRAPING::

Back in August—I wrote a post telling you about my blog being SCRAPED…my initial reaction in that was post—was a little cheeky.



Then I realized the seriousness of the SCRAPING Business…
and how bad it hurts  …we discussed PLAGIARISM.  It looked grim.  I was angry.

The next time I posted about it—I told you some of the things I learned about SCRAPING and what I was doing to COMBAT it.

I wrote a post telling you all about the forms to fill out and about the Digital Millennium Copyright ACT (DMCA)
how they wrote me and told me to provide more specific information…
Well, I ended that post with how I still had more work to do…blah, blah, blah.

I’d like to say—I jumped through hoops and got it all done. You already know that didn’t happen…;)

I did try and get the information they were wanting.  I could only get some of it.  It’s not easy to copy information off a nefarious website… they have tons of pop-ups and deterrents.  They are BIG FAT SNEAKS…(sorry if that offends sneaky people) but it is what it is, folks.  Getting all the information proved almost impossible.  While I did collect some of the data—I never got around to actually filing it again.

But, I’m happy to report—the so called “blog” and it’s content (MY CONTENT) has been closed!!! Yay!!!   It is not available to be opened currently. I’m watching it… so that when it comes available—I’m hoping to snatch it up! (it is very close to the name of my blog---only slight difference).  I would like to think that the Google Police Nabbed them and got their man…like Dudley Do-Right of the RCMP always gets his man. ;)

But really what I’m afraid happened was …that the guilty party (parties) have moved on to graze on greener pasture and are not bothering with my world renowned and most famous blog; because they came to find my super exciting life here in the country—trite and mundane and that they found the riveting, headline and attention grabbing lifestyle that I lead --just too much to keep up with. 

Either way—GOOD RIDDENCE!

::On Being Scraped- It's The Tail Waggin' the Dog ::

OK, so on or about 7th August 20.13  I wrote about my blog being scraped. 

I received lots of comments from many of you who have had this happen or have known someone that has had it happen to them. I also received lots of emails with helpful links to figure this out.  

I believe Kathy from Moving on to the Past sent me the MOST helpful links. She was on this situation--eager to help me. Thanks Kathy!  

Many of you have asked about watermarking, adding jump breaks, etc.  and Kirstin at Craftiments has already written a great post about doing all these things to discourage theft of your blog. It is so thorough there is no need for me to write about it here.

 I also found, in my research, a link to  REMOVING CONTENT FROM GOOGLE and how to report stolen content to Google and get it removed; (good article) and also how to fill out a DMCA (Digital Millennium Copyright Act) form. It only took them 20 days to get back to me. 

But...at least they got back to me. I am just one small pup on the W.W.W.-- I'm not going to whimper about how slow I think they are to respond.

:: Crazy Ride-- Scraping Update ::

Thank you everyone for your support regarding my blog and the apparent SCRAPING that has taken place. 

I've gotten some really great links from different people and tons of advice from several of you. This has all been so helpful. 
One post in particular that was helpful (and she was quick to give feedback in the matter WHILE ON VACATION!!!) was by Kirsten at Craftiments "How to Discourage Feed Scraping in Blogger"   -- her post was chock full of information. 
Plus, she emailed me right away with some other links. (more on that later) Thank you Kirsten!

I wrote part of this yesterday in an email to one of my faithful readers here at Corn... and decided to share these thoughts with you and answer some questions if I can. 

So my blog is being SCRAPED...
