Since then... I've watered. I've kept a strict schedule adhering to the water department schedule of things.
Since then... my tomato plant with tomatoes has come back...starting to look pretty hardy and the tiny tomatoes have begun to fill out somewhat.
Since then... Green Beans have sprouted up out of the ground. Making me excited to see them come up. We didn't get but a few hands full of green beans back in May and June.

Well, I can tell you-- I'M SICK OF SEEING THEM IN MY YARD AND GARDEN.
YES! Since then... the Grasshoppers ate my little green bean plants.

So much for being an ORGANIC Gardener. The only way to get rid of these things I believe (besides Fire, of course) would be chemicals.
I've tried DE earlier in the year.
Do you have ANY SUGGESTIONS? I'm desperate.

Gather them up and ship them to me. I feed them to my lizard. Teehee.
Muscovy ducks and guinea hens will eat the grasshoppers. The ducks, and they HAVE to be Muscovy, don't need a "coop" because they roost in trees where they are safe from dogs/coyotes, etc. I don't know if you have the ability to get ducks but we are contemplating it for the same reason.
Sorry, we don't have grasshoppers in my yard...that is a bit strange...I'll give you all my misquitos though...lol...I could do without them...wish I could help...have a great Autumn Day....Mel

oh my! I have no advice. Would you believe I've only seen a couple of grasshoppers this year. (one was at disney world over the weekend.) crazy, I know!

Oh my gosh! We have the biggest grasshoppers in South Carolina, too. But I don't know what to do about them. I guess they need to eat, too. We try not to use any chemicals on the plants. The only exception is Sevin dust, but I don't know if it deters grasshoppers.
Sorry no suggetions, and it is the first time I see them here, and I think they look awesome. But then again, I only get to admire them through your blog and not in real life....
The only luck I ever have is to STOMP 'em! ;)
I have had the worst luck this year too! I think it is the crazy weather, yep think you have to go with the big guns...Not fire
