Beating the Heat

This post is linked up with Elaine at Sunny Simple Life

I recently showed you photos around our home in celebration of the 4th of July.
One of those photos was a picture I called "Stripes" ... it was a picture of an afghan I'm working on crocheting.

I didn't show the whole thing, because well, it's not finished. Here it is SANS STARS... and actually the 'field of blue' isn't finished either. (I ran out of the blue and have to get some more).

It's going to be a gift for someone. The Honey has a sister we stay with periodically when he goes to the V.A. Hospital...down in Central Texas. She lives in Waco and has a beautiful guest bedroom decorated in RED, WHITE, AND BLUE... it is mainly a TEXAS THEME... I thought she'd like this and it will lay nicely on her bed in there.

This last photo is of some stars I made one afternoon. I have them hanging off the shelf behind the wood burning stove. They are made of rag material, not thread.  They aren't  a true RED, WHITE, AND BLUE.... but I liked them; and my daughters and daughter in law  have both commented on them, saying they like them too!

...AND THAT'S how I spend my afternoons once the A/C is turned on, and Bree (our little grand-daughter) and The Honey are napping.  We chill out after our swim... and I get to crocheting!

How about you?  What are you doing to beat the heat this summer?

The afghan is a lovely idea for a gift Pat and it is turning out beautifully. Beat the heat? Is that possible? I just stay out of it as much as I can! Seems worse this summer. Ann

That's going to be lovely!

It's so hot here it's hard to even go outside of a minute! I go out and water trying to keep everything alive since we've also had no rain and I'm drenched with sweat by the time I come back in!

We've be taking advantage of the time indoors to do some organizing/decluttering/re-arranging.
