:: A Proud Moment ::

...or... " A Home School Post, Really???"

If you've read my blog for any length of time-- and read my 'ABOUT ME' STUFF... then you know I've listed myself as a Veteran Home School Mom.
Homeschooling is NOT something that I write about very often on my blog. In fact, I can't really remember EVER mentioning it here. Because, after all... I'm finished.
But, I did. I home schooled my four children all their lives...well, until they were out on their own. I still try to teach them now...ssshhh!!! ;)

Of those four kids, they've all grown to become responsible, strongly opinionated, contributing adults to the world around us. They are all talented, smart, and caring.
I'm proud of each and every one of them. I never EVER pushed College. I'm not about to discuss all that here. But, I'll just say-- I don't think a degree is needed to be successful in life. Do I think certain professions need schooling and preparation for their jobs? Yes. So did I talk my kids UP for College? No. I. Did. Not. Period.

But, I always knew my youngest daughter would go to college. She told me this when she was about 8 years old. Because she home schooled she announced she would one day go to college; because she wanted to ride the bus! (ha! to be eight again...)

 My youngest-- Many of you know her as 'Easton's Momma'  will be 22 in September! Oh. My. Goodness! Yes. She is the only one of those kids to go to college.  She is keeping her GPA up; despite Motherhood, Marriage, and Work (housekeeping and outside the home

She was inducted into PHI THETA KAPPA tonight!  I'm so excited! The Honey and I are so proud of her!!!

Great story, my eldest is just finishing up his schooling this year and my youngest is just starting her education. It's lovely to hear of someone who has home educated all the way through, well done!

Congratulations, and AMEN. You might know my hubby teaches building construction/wood technology, and that involves a lot of kids who do better learning by alternative means, and while they're smart, skilled, and talented there are other options that will suit many of them better than college. As a homeschooling mom, it is my job to raise God-fearing, faithful Christian people who are happy following whatever path God has for them, and raising their families the same way. So far we have one with a BA, and plans to get a Masters and maybe a Doctorate. Our next one has an Associates in Arts and Sciences degree and a Phi Theta Kappa membership, but is now pursuing an electrical apprenticeship. #3 loves others through nannying and elder care, and now is planning independent study in order to use her passion and skills in coaching to be a certified fitness trainer and coach...Things she feels she will be of benefit, also, when she is a mother. There are all sorts of paths out there. If they stay close to God and happy, I'm happy!

Congrats! It is an inspiration to me that you shared this. I don't push college either. I really believe they each will find their path according to their strengths and interests. Homeschooling leaves open all options! Thank God we are free to homeschool in this country!
