:: Something New for Me! ::

In March while out thrifting I bought some items for my store. I hope to be posting some of those things soon. Right now I'm still cataloging and getting some items ready to list.

I also made some purchases for myself for my birthday.  Besides pottery, I bought a book, $.50 (cents!!) titled The Daily Writer by Fred White.
It is 366 lessons for helping you hone your writing skills. The book starts out with lessons and they are labeled  chronologically, following the calendar year. Since, this is obviously NOT JANUARY...and April 1st was yesterday... I'm starting with the first lesson as though I'm right on track. Make sense?
I'm kind of excited about it.  This is something I've often thought about doing; but haven't practiced much.

No, I'm not talking about what I do here on my blog.
In fact, it's nothing like that.

When I write...here...
I write as though I'm having a conversation. It's broken thoughts.
Fragments.
Disjointed sentences.
Written down as a journal of sorts...but freely shared with all of you!

I have dabbled in poetry all of my life. Don't we all? I've not ever been published. I'm more private in my poems.  Except for what limericks I've shared over with you over the years. When I write, I am usually inspired to write poetry for special or memorable occasions.

So among many of the things that I  am already doing in my days, I am taking a little bit of time for me. I don't know that I'll ever write a book. But I am looking forward to the challenge of writing something everyday or almost every day.
Who knows... I may post something  here for you to read, ...though don't hold your breath.

I know you say... "but I'm reading this, here and now.
What's the difference?"
Uhm... well, I dunno!

It's just different.

Anyway, that is something new on the home front for me.  Just thought I'd share it here with you.
I found my book used while out thrifting.
I've included a link for you if you'd like to check it out!

*just a reminder the amazon links in this post are affiliate links. Thank you!

Good for you for being willing to invest the time into your writing to do that. I have always done poetry, too, but much of it is to deal with angst in my life- deep things that where I have written out my pain. I hope you do take the time to actually do it. You are right- it is different than blogging-xo Diana

Very interesting! Good luck! That book sounds very "do able". I used to write a lot more than I do now. Had a fee incidentals published. Maybe you should start a linky party: Poetry Monday or something!

I purchased a whole set of books recently. Each $.50/each. All for writing. My kids and I love to write, and one wants to get her degree in Journalism. As for me, our Community college dropped "Journalism" from their degrees, so I have not gone back to finish my own degree (yet).

How exciting for you! I love that you are giving yourself a new challenge. Or renewing an old interest. Great birthday present to yourself!

Good luck with it, writing is something that I have tried my hand with, but not gotten very far.

I think this is amazing! You already have wonderful writing skills and express your mood quite well through your blog posts. Not easy to do. I hope you do put some of your writings up on your blog - good for you, Pat. Ann

Great idea and I hope you keep at it. Writing is such a wonderful thing to do. I can entertain myself for hours and hours with things I've written in the past. I used to be so good at writing in a journal or whatever each day. Blogging has gotten in the way of that and I miss it. I want to try and do more real writing as well. Good luck with it.
