I woke this morning with something that I thought was kind of funny on my mind. I was thinking about Punxsutawney Phil… You know Mr. Ground Hog?
I was wondering why in the world does he wait until February to come out of his burrow…hole… cave…CLUBHOUSE…whatever… to tell us we have 6 more weeks of Winter? Why wait?
I mean really, I don’t have as much at stake here as some of you. You’ve been posting pictures of your first snow. All the winter weather ‘events’ taking place in your neck of the woods. Here I sit in TEXAS…being warmed by my wood stove… excited about the first real cold front, frost on the ground…getting the fall garden covered, because I know it’s going to warm back up a LITTLE bit.
But, Wouldn’t it be better for everybody…including Mr. P. Phil to tell us, say… In October while there are still a few warm days to prepare?
He could possibly even wait as late as November for some. Maybe he’s acting on orders from someone else. Maybe he has political connections. I mean there is a whole holiday named in honor of the likes of him… “Ground Hogs” Day, duh!
Suppose he gets together with Smokey the Bear? You know an ounce of prevention…blah, blah, blah! Smokey the Bear stands for something. Prevention. That is kind of like preparation…sort of!
Smokey the Bear knows how long to hibernate.
He could get in on the action—work with Punxy…and they both get adequate sleep… WIN-WIN!
Who DO YOU THINK I should talk to about getting this ball rolling?

Bless your heart! I know the propane situation is not a funny one, but I had to laugh about your groundhog ideas!
I'm glad I'm not the only one enjoying the cold spurts when the come. I'd love a little snow. :o)
I think you should get right on that idea about changing Groundhog Day! Oh- that propane can be a pain in the butt sometimes. I used to work for a propane company- xo Diana
I can't imagine the cold weather right now with our sunny days.

LOL! I just think it's odd that there are two ground hogs and they often have a difference of opinion!
This cracked me up. It is barely cool enough here to wear long pants and I can't wait for the cold weather to start up. Love the idea of Punxy and Smokey teaming up to tell us when winter is going to start.

I guess he sleeps all winter like a bear and wakes up to see whats going on out in the world and decided I need 6 more weeks sleep? LOL
Cute post ... love the pig tail on the tank. We have a tank in our back yard too, no pig tail, thank goodness as right now, we have enough trouble with leaking water pipes in the house foundation.
We had two nights of freezing weather and enjoyed our fireplace.
