:: Hanging Gardens- It’s NO WONDER ::

I found this on Pinterest it is a recipe and method for bring life back into FERNS; and am going to give it a go!
  • 1/2 cup Epsom salt and 3 gallons of water
  • submerge potted fern until soil stops bubbling and let hang to dry.
  • Do this about 3X per week.
We’ll see how it goes.  We can only water on Odd days here—so this might help them out.
These are not my ferns…
epsom salt and ferns

Mine look way worse! Sorry no close up—It’s just too sad really.
Ferns -april 14 before epsom salt
I almost killed them.
I’ve read that the epsom salt adds magnesium to the plants and it helps them to thrive.
So, I was thinking I’d try an experiment to see how they’d do, One of them I’d water with the epsom salt water and the other I’d just water. I’m just too practical of a person.  I want them both to do well.
I’m going to do this for a couple of weeks and see what happens—if the Epsom salt plant has improved vastly…
then …
I’m going to continue to water them both with the solution and see how they do. At this point, they are both just about gone, what do I have to lose?  I’ll show you how they look in a few weeks.  In the mean time I’ll take some better before pictures and I’ll take some progress pictures.
Just doing a little experiment—
Do you do that?  Do you see something and just jump in there all gung-ho and DO-IT?!  Or do you experiment with it a little?  I could go both ways with that question.  Sometimes—I JUST DO IT. Other times--- I tread lightly and find my own path.
Well… who am I kidding?   I tread lightly  A LOT!  That is mainly, because I’m so Indecisive!

Til next time, Be Blessed!

Wow, we can water every other week and it looks as though that may continue for a while. The next step is worse. When I went back to work, I stopped carrying collecting extra water from the house out to the water barrel. I may have to do that again. It takes so long to get hot water that I was trying to save some for the plants in the back yard.

I had asparagus ferns that survived a few winters until this last one. They all died and there haven't been any signs of reviving. I let them get too dry. Good luck with your epsom salts.

I've never heard this before......but, it does make sense. I need to write this down so I can remember the help that my ferns always need. Thankfully, we have never been on water rationing. I know this must be difficult.
Let us know the good results from this fern remedy...

I use to buy ferns every year for outdoors.... I haven't bought one in years. I don't like bringing them indoors, and it breaks my heart to let them die outdoors in the fall-winter.

I'm interested in your little experiment.

I am pinning this! I just bought 2 huge ferns for the front porch. I can already tell they like to be watered. Thanks for sharing!

I wish we could share some of our rain with you, we have plenty! I've come over here so many times to thank you for your sweet comment on my blog the other day, and I am consistently distracted in the time it would take to say thank you!! I do pray my daughter and her boyfriend grow up in this time, and I absolutely see God's hand in this. I could go on, and may email you later, but thank you for your encouraging words! Funny part of it is how my ex and his wife get so angry because my husband and I don't get stressed and bothered by these things! Why should we get upset just because we're in the early stages of one of God's plans and can't see how it will turn out?

Hmm...I think I tread lighter the older I get, lol. I think you are smart to try it both ways :)
