:: Veterans Day- Ace Hardware- Frugal Fodder 29

But, NOT in that Order.

On Saturday, the Hubby and I took a trip to the local Ace Hardware—I use my Ace Reward card there and have spent enough there recently that I was REWARDED a $5 discount off my next purchase.  It’s time to make my laundry soap—and around here, it seems; Ace is the only place I’ve found that carries ALL 3 main ingredients.

  soap makings

Honey wanted to pick up some caulk for some window gaps and while we were there he spotted a 2 pack of  Propane bottles –used for cook stoves, hand torches, (he uses it for SWEATING COPPER PIPE)  …USUALLY AFTER THEY’VE FROZEN. :/   Hopefully, that isn’t going to be an issue this year, because we’ve insulated them quite well.   When we closed the pool—we cut the pool noodles THAT WERE HEADED FOR THE TRASH and wrapped any exposed pipes under the trap door, wrapped with duct tape and VOI`LA!

HAHA! The grand kids will never know!  Besides, those pool noodles break down after a while and new ones will be bought for the pool next year!

Anyway—back to ACE.  I was able to purchase all my soap supplies, 3 tubes of caulking, and a 2 pk of propane bottles with my savings and my Hubby the VETERAN (all Veterans get a 10% discount EVERYDAY @ACE )  I only spent $17 plus change.  Not too bad.

Here is the recipe I’ve been using—since before I started blogging personally.   I use the liquid formula--
The Family Homestead

I also want to say—Thank You to ALL VETERANS TODAY HERE AND ABROAD.  Thank you for your service to our country.

Flag Day

** Lastly, thank you to you my readers for all your sweet comments and for checking in on me.  I’ve been awaiting test results and just trying to rest and feel better.  I’ll be back hopefully tomorrow with all the good news!

‘Til next time, Be Blessed!

Likewise, teach the older women to be reverent in the way they live, not to be slanderers or addicted to much wine, but to teach what is good. Then they can urge the younger women to love their husbands and children, to be self-controlled and pure, to be busy at home, to be kind, and to be subject to their husbands, so that no one will malign the word of God. ~ Titus 2: 3-5

*ALSO—no part of this post is sponsored by ACE Hardware. They’re just your friendly neighborhood hardware and I don’t mind sharing my opinion about that. ;)

Hi Patricia, I'll be praying for your good news . . . and watching for your next post. I did not know that Ace had an everyday 10% discount for Veterans...that is very nice to know.
Wishing you all the very best.
Your blogging sister, Connie :)

I have to tell you from an expensive (digging out and replacing septic system) the homemade soap gets hard as a rock in a septic system. I had to tell you as it was very costly at our old place.

I haven't made soap in a while but will probably do it again soon. I use the Zote soap instead of the Fels Nappa (although I have used that, too)
Fingers crossed and prayers going up for good news on your medical issues, Pat. xo Diana
