New Furniture

Just kidding...
I just want it too look new!

I went shopping today. Bargain land was open. You remember Bargain land don't you?
(I posted about it last month and showed you all the great bargains you can get there)

Well, today I went to purchase a chest of drawers and dresser.
I'm hoping to paint these and sell them.
I have a potential buyer already.

Anyway, the first piece is a chest of drawers.
It is pretty tall. The cabinet is all wood, the drawers are wood (there is no veneer on this piece)
Inside the drawers; the bottoms are MDF (very thin), may need to be beefed up a little.

I like it and it is simple enough. The drawer pulls are all there and still usable.

This picture shows the feet. I like them. Curvy and girl-y looking.

The top had a little crack in the wood so there is a bar clamp on it--  I'm gluing that already.

I have an idea for it already.  I'll have to hone my skills practice painting a little more.
I love what Miss Mustard Seed has done with this record cabinet. I am hoping to do something similar to this.

Her piece turned out spectacular and is for sale by the way in her shop.
You can find her shop by going to the link above
and click on the button at the top that says "Gallery"
She has beautiful furniture.

The next piece is what I believe is called Hollywood Regency style or Art Deco (not for sure).
This is my inspiration picture...or something similar.

Hmmm...maybe my dresser is called Mid-Century...
Either way-

I hope to give this baby a completely new outlook on life.
I may even find a mirror to compliment it.

I love the feet on this one too. (Sounds like I have a feet-fettish,huh?)
This dresser is Bassett. Solid wood drawers. It's Mahogany !
It has a painted veneer finish- in serious need of some TLC. (total lipstick change)

I like these drawer pulls. They would definitely need some paint shot to them.

I DON'T LIKE THESE...BLECH!
and the shells are NOT all there... that was an easy decision. There is one missing. Doesn't mean they won't be good for another project on down the line...if this little venture pans out.

I've not ever done anything like this before. But, I've been inspired/encouraged (indirectly of course) by so many of you out there who do this in order to supplement your income, or as a full business venture.

Actually it is a little scary for me.  I hope this will be something I can do a little on the side and help to supplement our income. We'll see.
In the mean time:

Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight.
Prov.3:5-6

So this is what I've been up to.

Those pieces are great - and I love the feet too. I can't wait to see your reveal! I know you'll do them up real well... and I wish you the best of luck in your business venture. I'm jealous, of course! But my time will come. I'll keep that verse in mind - thanks for sharing!

Pat YOU ARE THE INSPIRATION!!!! Going for it like that! Just last night I was thinking about doing the same exact thing! Painting and selling!

Awesome, Lady!!!!! Love you!!

Good luck with your business. Bassett is quite good 20 C furniture. I happen to love that hardware and think it could sell the piece. Very unusual color and mahogany -- maybe it would thrive with just a clean up? Jane F.

Ok, the French door leads to my closet and the half glass door is the entry to my bathroom from my bedroom. Sorry, I was vague...The fan pulls say Monte Carlo and were purchased at Lowe's. Thanks for all the kind words... I do enjoy this bathroom. Lez

Great pieces! Can't wait to see the makeovers, especially the birds. I so want to try that myself after seeing MMS's cabinet.
