Is This Balance?

Ever since I announced I was taking a blogging break...
     (which I have sort of if you consider how much time I spend READING all YOUR BLOGS!)   {wink}
...I've had something to say or at least post on my blog, go figure huh?

Keeps y'all guessing that way-- wondering if I'm some sort of space cadet??... I know!

This is a small list of things I'm getting done around here now that I'm taking a blog break... .(hee-hee)

  • Paper work-- there seems to be a lot of it (especially since Honey's hospital stay and when dealing with the VA-- they support the Paperwork Reduction Act... they don't do it; but they expect you too! ha! )
  • Doing my indoor SPRING CLEANING...  I'll explain.  Our spring was so great! Mild Sunny and Warm Rainy days... we spent a lot of time outdoors.Working, gardening;and remodeling the camper.~Insert Hospital stay and Dr. visits~ So now that Temps are extreme... Can You say TRIP-POOL DIG-ITS?!! ...I'm getting it all done. So I'm not late spring cleaning-- I just flipped my calendar! ;)
  • Planning and making lighter meals. Not necessarily cooking either. (Too Hot)  We eat soups and sandwiches. Means less time in the kitchen too!
  • Reading!  Real Literature.  You know the kind I mean?  Where you pick up a book with pages... and scan the page with your eyes, reading the words, flipping until you get to the end.  NOTHING DIGITAL ABOUT IT. Just relaxing and reading.
  • I've also been meditating on Scripture more. Nothing too deep-- just going over verses I've learned in the past--- I'm embarrassed to say, I've let that part of my life fall away too. I'm making it a small part of my day again-- until it grows more and more!
  • Going to bed at a decent hour-- or at least when the Hubby does; and not staying up all hours! Makes for a better nights rest!
Instead of a struggle to juggle I'm now trying to Balance it all; So by backing off the computer; I'm feeling rested. Sleeping pretty good at night.
I'm feeling accomplished. and Sleeping good at night. I'm stretching myself in my days... and sleeping, Well you get the jist of it.
I'd forgotten there were things that needed my attention around here and was enjoying the blog world WAY TOO MUCH! So much-- I didn't anymore.

I think instead of taking a blog break to mean-- stepping away from blogging; I've learned I need MUST step away, live life and gitt'r done...and then take a blog break MEANING come in here and visit with all of you my bloggy friends!

 Balance.

Sometimes you have to prioritize your day. Find Balance. Looking forward to getting up and getting to work!   Sometimes it takes a few days strung together like beads on a necklace before you see the beauty in them.  I'm starting to love my days now.

This is the day the LORD has made;  let us rejoice and be glad in it. Psalm 118:24

God Bless you and Thanks for Reading.

From the break room~ Pat

What I'm hearing you say is that you put the important things first and then you can take the time to do the things you enjoy without guilt.
I know that if I keep putting off the necessary chores or whatever it may be to indulge in pleasure first, I don't enjoy it nearly as much as I would if I had done it in the proper order.
I'm glad you can balance both.

Sometimes we all need to step back and reevaluate our priorities. I thnk many of us spend more time on the internet that we realize. The other day I was in line behind a woman at the grocery. When the checker was trying to tell her the total for her groceries, the woman was busy posting on facebook! I said "my gosh, take a minute for real life stuff".

ha ha granny, did you really say that out loud! I loved and agree with some of the phrases you strung together, nice writing and your right...I use to work getting something done, and when I was tired and needed a break I would sit at the computer for awhile, but it easily gets turned around!

So very true! It's so horribly hot here but I'm tired of being inside. I need to find a balance myself.

Hi Pat! Sorry I have not been around much, I know what you mean about balance and I love how you put it. I have been getting things done and there is so much more that I need to get done so I haven't been visiting as much. It is so easy to get caught up in blogland, not that that is a bad thing but hours can go by and that is kind of bad. :) i hope your hubby is doing well and it sounds like you are settling in and finding a good balance for you. :)

Pat, this is a wonderful message. The blogs can be addictive and sometimes I have to step away too. I'm glad you have found a good balance and that you are happier and your husband is doing well. You reached me with "books" - I make myself read them because they are my first love that sometimes I abandon for "easier" pursuits. Have a great weekend. Ann

You're right, balance is very important. It's so easy to overdo it on any form of entertainment, (that's how I describe blogging, it's my entertainment). So we have to be really careful to do everything else before we sit down to entertainment.
At least that is how I see it.
Hugs, Cindy

Good for you, we all need an internet break once in a while to really live life and not in the surreal world of the internet...We were empty nesters for 16 years, now we have our twin 16 yr old granddaughters living with us for while...oh how I miss the quiet house...lol and our privacy...lol...but alas...they do bring life back into our world again and it makes me feel younger again....thanks for your comments on Mel's Cabin Designs 1952 blogspot.

LOL! That's how I approach it. I realized long ago that too much compute times wasn't good for me. So I limit how much time I spend - especially the whole looking a blog thing. There are so many out there and they all have something to offer. But you could spend all day going from one to another. People often ask me how I get so much done and the answer is I don't let social media suck away my time!
