:: STILL GROWING ::

I was so hoping to be finished with the garden by this time of the year. But here it is August and we still have many plants thriving outside.

You can't really tell it from the photos-- but all around the interior parts of the yard... dry ground, not many grassy areas. Here inside this front bed... it's pretty lush!
Tomatoes... still growing!

Tomatoes on this side and Canteloupe spanning from one growing box on through to the other...

Our Pecan Trees have plenty of pecans on them so far this year!  That's exciting!

Not only is this Canteloupe spanning the beds... but the weeds are thriving too.  I gave up on this little area when it came to weeding!

The other day I came very close to pulling this particular canteloupe vine. But as you can see.. It has fruit on the vine STILL!
...AND HERE... More fruit.

This long narrow bed looks like it has seen better days... but there are beets, Okra in the back and Tomatoes here toward the front. There are also some Peppers plants growing near the okra...but NOT ONE PEPPER!!!

So with all the gardening we did last Summer, Fall, and through the Winter;I was hoping our Spring beds would grow and we'd rest during the Summer months of 2012. I wanted to let the ground lay fallow and prep it for a Fall garden in 2012... but no, here we are the first week in August and still have food growing. Which, is a GOOD thing... not going to complain there. It just shows me, there is still much to be learned where gardening is concerned.

We've had a real relaxing weekend... I've had some time out browsing the new Good Will and Bargain Land.  I painted and am waxing the ""Boy's"" (our youngest son...that is his nic-name...Boy) dresser to match the bedside table. This morning The Honey brought me breakfast in bed!!! So it has been a pretty simple Sunday.

I almost missed the Sunny Simple Sunday blog hop: It is late Sunday night but I'm still linking up. To find out how people are getting by on their Simple Sundays follow the link to read more!

We were in the garden this weekend too. I want to dig up carrots and pull a few tomatoes to plant some fall crops but it is going to be very hot here this week so I don't know if I will get to it. Maybe with the sprinklers on me at the same time.

It's so great when veggies actually grow and thrive. I gave up on mine after last year when something ate right through all the stems, grrrr! It can be maddening.
Sounds like a great Sunday to me!

My garden is in full swing now too, well my tomatoes and peppers that is. Cucumbers are still coming and my eggplant is flowering once again as well. My acorn and yellow squash bit the dust a few weeks ago.

Breakfast in bed??? Wow, do you ever rate! Your garden looks glorious and prosperous. I'm such a dummy, I had no idea that's how cantalope's grew. Of course, they do, they are a melon! See? I always learn something from you. Ann

I wonder if I'll ever get breakfast in bed! How nice! You must typically have a similar growing season as Phoenix, Arizona, where the extreme heat slows or stops gardening. I'm so glad I don't live in that zone! I hear pecans take a 'hudgemongous' amount of water to live/produce. My garden is doing great! If you have time, come check it out!

It's the crazy weather we have had this year, lucky you! Pecans and tomatoes, nothing better than home grown!

Hey Pat! Breakfast in bed and fruit on the vines? I'd say you are doing well, and livin' the life! Thanks for stopping by. Sorry I've been a no-show on the blog but I went on a road trip to see my daughter in AL and to help her move and get her new apt. in order. I'll be back posting soon... once I catch up on everything! Thanks for coming by...don't give up on me. Since I'm not ready with a post, I'll just sit back and catch up on all you've been doing instead!

I had given up on having a garden ... but maybe this Fall or next year. I have been cleaning and weeding the garden spot this summer ... so just maybe. Glad you are getting good fruit and veggies. Thanks for visiting Timeless Treasures and leaving a nice comment.
