::Cozying Up the Covers::

Over the summer- we re-arranged our bedroom after 16 years of having the bed in the same spot. But with that new arrangement...One little tweak...
I reaped tons of benefits.
The first and most important... no more aching back.
I can sleep so comfortably now.
Our little farmhouse at some time in its history was added onto...and our bedroom has a slight
(EVER SO SLIGHT) slope. But my back Knew it.

With the summer days-- my bed was dressed with a summery and cheerful ensemble... the $5 quilt!
Full of color. But a little thin.

With the cooler temps that came this weekend... I only added a couple of blankets to help us through the cold snap. But knew it was getting to be that time of year when something warmer and bit heavier was needed for the bed.

It even looks warmer.
Yesterday-- laundry day-- I washed the sheets and re made the bed with the winter bedding.
Tucked a wool blanket across the foot of the bed and removed and added pillows.

While in the laundry room-- I found this little sample of TIDE w/ Febreeze ®
and I that's what I washed my sheet with...big mistake.
I expected to crawl into my bed last night...made comfy and cozy for winter... with crisp clean sheets that had been lined dried for freshness... and fall fast asleep.
But no.  This laundry soap...kept me up for what seemed to be THE.LONGEST.NIGHT. OF. MY.LIFE! I think I'll stick to my no fragrance, no dyes, no extra YUCK...with my homemade laundry soap, thank you very much!
...at least with that I don't wake up sneezing in the morning!
(and continue to sleep so comfortably) Where sleep is key!

Looks really comfy and cozy! Sorry you had a sleepless night :( Live and learn, right?

I'm with you! A lot of that fragrance "stuff" gives me either sinus pain or migraines. Yeah, fun.

It's so fun to tweak and change out for the seasons. And bring out the comfy, warmer things out!
I'm with you on the laundry detergent. Looks like we use the same recipe. (well, pretty much...I make the liquid...)

I too have made the bed change from summer to winter. I added a small down throw over the thin quilt I use all year long. I use to like "heavy" but not anymore.
funny about the tide...I suppose it's all in what you get use to.

your room looks so cozy! I haven't made changes to my room since I blogged about it last year? the year before? oh my! I don't even remember.

I like both your looks - and just the fact that your back doesn't hurt anymore is great - now you just need to stop sneezing. I'm not real big on fragrances in everything... Ann

The bed looks great in that spot. I like the metal bed and the quilt the best. I have to be careful with fragrance.

Your bed looks so pretty. I know what you mean about some of the fragranced laundry soaps, and for me anything with the Febreze scents, are just too much. They make me feel smothered. Doesn't it feel cozy when it turns cool enough to sleep under the winter quilts?

You and I are on the same page. I just changed out my summer chenille for our down comforter. I've discovered that I can wash our comforter and not send it to the cleaners. The first time I had it cleaned it cost $60!!!!! I nearly fainted! So this year I washed it at the local laundromat in one of the huge tubs. This time I spent $4.oo and it came out sparkling clean. It feels so good climbing into bed at night with the warm blanets in place.
I love your colorful cozy quilt! Your white bed reminds me of the vintage one in my guest room.
Happy snuggling and sweet dreams, my friend,

I love the smell of laundry that's been dried on the line. I haven't used commercial laundry detergent for years now.

I remember the line dried sheets, how great it was to sleep on them the first night...nothing smells better. I do like my Downy, but have made several batches of the "no grate" thinner laundry detergent and I like it just fine. I've grown accustomed to pulling one of those very fuzzy fleece throws into bed with me - my daughter started that habit! Since I still "flash" sometimes, I don't do really heavy covers anymore.
I'm so glad to hear your rearrangement had additional benefits for you!
Love that gallery wall and your boxes stacked...:)

It is amazing how just a slant can affect our backs--I have always had the same problem---that is why a good mattress is so helpful too. I have found since my hubby weights more than I that there is a slant towards him in some beds in our travels. Not good for me!

As far as the scented laundry soup, I have used an unscented brand for years and just last week switched to a scented one and it has not bothered me yet. I have a front loading washing machine and I do not feel it cleans as well as the top loading ones because it doesn't really steeeeeep the clothing in water. I figured the scent would at least make it seem cleaner, lol!

Ps. --haven't been doing much blogging , but I am fine at this time ;-)
