Dig in and Grow-

Was on the fence about gardening this year. In fact, we did nothing to prepare for a vegetable garden. We really thought we’d be putting the house on the market and moving; and went as far as pulling some of our bed-boxes up and hauling them to the burn pile.

I kept two boxes.  They’ve both seen better days—but for now they’ve got veggies planted in them.  Yay!  I was really thrilled to work in the dirt over the weekend.
There was plenty to do too. I had let the boxes get filled in with bermuda grass and weeds. I think I might of even dug up a few hardy potatoes, leftovers from last years garden.
We planted
  • Tomatoes (Big Beef and Goliath)
  • Crooked-neck squash
  • Cucumbers
  • Zucchini squash
  • Sweet Red onion
I went ahead and purchased plants instead of sowing seeds.
I also—didn’t double check, which plants are compatible with other plants. I seem to forget from year to year. I even have a notebook for that— still, I didn’t check. I wanted to get them in the ground before the rain.
We’ll see how this goes. Whatever comes up is fine by me. Like most of my gardening in the years past  —it’s pretty much ‘dig in and grow’!
We’ve had storms the past two nights. They plants have perked up nicely; maybe they’ll take off and we'll get some groceries!
‘Til next time-
Be blessed.

We are holding off until May because we still could have a frost. I am way behind on getting things started- knee issues. In the next couple of weeks we will get it done. Your beds look fine. My big garden has tree trunks for the boxes and of course they start decaying and will eventually have to be replaced.

Looks good! Last year I planted all of my squash and cucumbers in the same bed. This year I read that you should not do that, but they all grew last year.

May your gardens flourish with plenty.

We are currently renting our home so I don't want to invest in flowers or a garden. I've never had either though and I'm really nervous. My grandma used to have the most amazing gorgeous garden of vegetables and flowers. I want one!

There is something about planting, etc. that makes you feel good. We talked a bit about moving one of these days too so I know what you mean about gardening. I bought some flower seeds anyway. Can't plant here until after Mother's Day though.

I think you just plant what you want and take care of it. I have those lists, too, and when I ignore them it seems to work better. lol Have fun with your gardening---looks like you have a good start. xo Diana

Looking good Patricia ... I bought some onion sets, but no time to get the weeds out of the garden and dig a spot for them, so will plant them in a container near the house. My garden is so neglected, but I do have a spot for tomatoes if it has not been taken over with weeds.
Have fun digging in the dirt.
