Winner Winner—Spring Chicken… no dinner!

About 2, almost 3 weeks now—I put my name in a drawing on Instagram and won this cute little painting. It’s hand-painted my Trish Jones from The Old Post Road… I have admired her talent and paintings for almost as long as I’ve been blogging.  I was thrilled to win this little cutie.

I have it displayed in my kitchen with ALL THE OTHER CHICKEN ART…

Over the weekend—the Honey and I got out of the house after a week of RAIN, RAIN, AND MORE RAIN! We traveled down to the local (to us) Antique strip… actually, on the other side of the lake, so a nice country drive. (smile)

I got a first hand look at some nice pottery—several pieces of Roseville, Hull, Frankoma… and McCoy. I came home with this lovely green and gray number… can you guess which is the maker?

It’s called a TULIP PLANTER.  I won’t tell you what I paid for it, for two reasons:

  1. After getting it home—I’m finding out it is quite possibly a fake. FROWN.
  2. I don’t want to glorify the faker…

However, I will say this,  I bought it because I thought it was beautiful and I still do.  I absolutely love the shape, and the colors! BIG SMILE!

Also, in doing research… I discovered that my green rooster there on the end…

May be Camark… I’ve never heard of this pottery, have you?  The mark is hard to see and I can’t be sure.  Again… I liked it so I bought it. ANOTHER BIG SMILE!

The last thing… isn’t pottery.  It could be classified as ‘WINNINGS’…

HOWEVER…

See?  Another settee and chair! Given to me AND HONEY! He was standing right there when it happened.  On Saturday, before hitting the antique strip, we went into the Furniture Resource …

minding our own business… just browsing!

When the manager came over and asked, NO, TOLD US… “ I have to get rid of that set today, if you want it, it’s yours!”

“Is that your truck out there?”  she pointed.

Followed by, “It doesn’t stink. It’s old and needs work… We’ll help you load it and you can take it today, or else it’s going in the dumpster.”  I FELT THREATENED.

BIG SMILE? no. BLANK STARE.

What were we going to say?  NO?!?!

Ha hahahaha!

I ask you, is it a Win?  or a Curse?  We’ll see.

‘Til next time, be blessed!

Patricia

I love that sweet painting! Lucky you! And wow, it was your lucky day with the furniture!
Who cares if the pottery is a fake. If you love it, that is all that matters!

The little chick painting is wonderful ~ and just perfect for Spring/ Easter time! So cute!!
I LOVE the rooster and also the beautiful vase. It looks like McCoy,,,,, but even if it isn't "real" it is a great find. They balance each other out perfectly. When we buy something we see and we love, it always looks just right in our homes. Great find!!

Cute painting. I'll be looking forward to see what you do with the furniture. If I had a closed porch, I'd put some comfy furniture in it.

Cute, cute chick painting! And you found some wonderful things even if the tulip planter is a fake! I can see why you liked it. What?!? You got the furniture for free? I think that you were lucky! Eager to know what you're going to do with it!
