Ode to MY Lil' chest of drawers-

When last my drawers to you I'd shown
All the drawers were in tact; but the top one was blown.

I reminded you then of the lipstick it needed.
When you see the results please don't feel you've been cheated.

Didn't want to spend money on something that's FREE
And It just wouldn't do to leave it be.

Refinishing furniture I haven't a clue-
A minor adjustment is all I would do.

With the swish of my brush I splashed on some color-
A knot hole , wood-grain - or something or other.

To cover the side panels and aptly conceal-
The white primered bead-board so not to reveal.

In the end it didn't turn out quite like planned-
BUT mistakes can be better- on the other hand!

This lil chest o'drawers has a tattered shine-
If it'd turned out too fancy- then it wouldn't be mine!

I dressed her up nicely for her big debut-
Here she is in her spotlight especially for you!

Now she  sits there so quiet with a new job to do-
For linens and napkins I know she'll pull through.

At her age  she doesn't have to be sturdy-
But  this old gal can work --and still be quite purdy!

Cute! You're a poet, I didn't know it! My projects rarely turn out the way they look in my mind either, but your little dresser looks much, much happier! Good job I say, good job!

Ohhhh -- What a wonderful post, and marvelous presentation! I bet you are going to get so many lovely poems back at ya today. Here, I must try one too:

Though the chest of drawers may have been free,
She's been treated quite well by her new family!
She now has a home and a place to serve tea,
Truly how lucky can one little chest be????

Thank you so much for sharing and linking to the Boardwalk Bragfest!

Hi,
Your chest of drawers looks great! Thanks for your nice comments on my kitchen. Yes, I painted green on the bottom cabinets. I do love color. My son is living there now,we at our Inn, which we have for sale. Son is moving in a month or so, and then we will be back. I have to do some major sprucing up(son is a bachelor!) before I can get good pics of the place. I will show more when I get it all back to normal. lol
Best,
Robin

Boy, she cleaned up nicely! You really did a lot of work on that piece and I'm glad you did it just how you wanted. It's yours after all. :) Well done.

I just stopped over and realized you are the blogger formerly known as corn in my coffeepot! Love that name. The casual (dash) cottage name threw me off. Love this post in particular, for the poem and for the chest of drawers. Nice looking chest you got there! ;)
I myself just learned today the difference between a dresser and a chest of drawers. I've gone almost 50 yrs without knowing the difference, imagine that!
Thanks for stopping by my blog today and making a comment. It really meant a lot to me. :)

LOOOOVE the beadboard detail you added! What a nice piece! Love the lines and how tall it is. Quite unique to see legs like that on a tall dresser too.

Thanks for linking it up to SNS!
