I've shown you the painted birds already--my daughter bought that chest of drawers from me for my grand-daughter. I enjoyed painting it up pretty for her room.
You may remember the other dresser was very 'mod' looking-- but quite old. It was mahogany with a blonde veneer on it... very good bones just needed a fresh make up job!
The wood was dried out and worn out...
The knobs were missing a few and were dated and tired...
I replaced the shell shaped knobs with plain wooden knobs-- painted silver
I kept the draped leaf shaped knobs--- and painted those silver.
Painted the enitre piece Flat black and then went over it with my trusty can of OOPS paint, " Fired Steel" from Walmart...ssshhh! I bought this little quart and I love the matte finish it gives to my furniture and frames.

They are really honest pictures too. The first picture at my house was taken in the furniture grave yard...my middle bedroom.
the second in my dear daughters storage / spare bedroom...they are remodeling other parts of her house at the time it was taken. Maybe I'll get good picture one of these days... But don't hold your breath!

That is a great transformation. I love the finish with the silver handles. Grandbabies do have a way of taking up our time don't they? I wouldn't have it any other way.
Good gracious woman! When have you had the TIME to do such wonderful work?!? What a great transformation. I have missed seeing your posts and am glad things are going along well.
Sweet! Looks great and it's good to have you back. But, only grandbabies are good enough excuses for absences - lol Housework and laundry can wait, huh?
These have turned out wonderfully! I do understand...life happens!
Hey, I've been off for awhile, too, but glad I popped in to see these great pieces! I love the black and silver, very cool piece to start with, like you said, "great bones"! Glad to see you've had time for some creating! Lezlee
Well we miss you too! You will have to do something special with those few shell knobs though. Too unique to not use somplace!
Oh my goodness!~ Both pieces are beautiful!
But, I love the birds!
Thank you for sharing!
