This Little Light of Mine~

A while back I began working on my bathroom –sprucing it up and giving it an inexpensive little make over.
I mentioned how my bathroom light over my mirror has never worked since we’ve lived here  did our first remodel 16 years ago. (full story here)  Bathroom - before 021 I think it didn’t work—cause it was just plain ugly. But whatever.  I still had the original light that was here in the house when we moved in; packed away somewhere. bathroom light fix 012
I wanted to get that light working.
Well between my son and Honey—they did it~ I was so happy.
But one thing. When they installed it they used cap nuts… long story short shade would no longer fit.
You’d think they could just switch out the cap nuts—NO. If they loosened them, the light would fall out, cause they had fastened it to the wall with  toggle bolts. Believe me when I say…it’s just complicated.
So—I just said “leave it.” I love having a light that works. I’ll figure something out; AND. I. DID. TOO!

See that cool vintage globe shade? See that pull string?  See that baling wire?  See that dust on top of the mirror? Well never mind that.  Just check out that baling wire!
Oh my sweet goodness!!!!  I love this little light. It isn’t really bright…but it adds such a sweet soft lighting in the bathroom…right over the mirror and when I look in that mirror…when this little light is on; well, it takes away the shadows that make me look old and haggard. Cause I’m really not.
I went too far with that last train of thought… I know. But that’s alright…
Because you get me. Right?

lol, I love soft light too!
Great job coming up with a cute solution to the shade not fitting.
Where there's a will there's a way, right?

I agree! It's perfect. A very charming light for the bathroom.

CLever and cute! Seems like you might need to market this light for others like those of us who much have over-mirror lighting that's too harsh... ;-)

I laughed when I read your post because I understand what you are talking about!! The icemaker has never been hooked up, I have lived here for 5 years now!! The water line hasn't been run yet, the hot water heater is on the other side of the wall, there is a water line there. Makes me think that I need to learn about the power tools! Or just drag them out, plug them in and prtend that I know what I am doing, maybe if my husband saw that he would get scared (or disgusted) and do it for me! Hmmmm....... Seems that you have provided me with inspiration! Thanks for posting!!!
Glad that your bathroom light is working now, I know about that one too!!
