:: Beginning Again- A Home School Tale::

Some thoughts on starting over and teaching the Littles--

  • I've had to dig deep inside this brain of mine to think about and come up with pre-school aged activities.
  • Pre-school was a long time ago on the HOME SCHOOL time line for me.
  • Where was GOOGLE when I started Home School with my own children?
  • These days we have a little bit of table time, puzzles, and lots of personal hygiene re-enforcement. Of course, there is also plenty outdoor, hands-on activity.
  • Having the Justice League here in my home everyday has been nothing if not entertaining.

Let me back up a bit and say:  for almost 4 years now, I've told my son in-law, he should be teaching his daughter Spanish.  His family speaks spanish and He is bi-lingual.  I think it is something that would benefit her and help her connect with her Abuelita

I think he is finally starting to work with her.

The other day I over heard this conversation-- between Bree and Weston:

Bree:  "Weston, can you say BOOK in Spanish?

Weston: " BOOK in Spanish."

Bree:  Good JOOOOOb!

I LAUGHED, literally, OUT LOUD.

LOL that's funny!

We homeschooled our daughter and my husband was her Spanish teacher. Even when she went to High school at the local public school she took Spanish classes. Doesn't remember a thing now! Years and years of Spanish classes and barely remembers a few words! Mainly because we don't know anyone that speaks it so she didn't have to use it. Unlike my husband that grew up in NYC and knew lots of Spanish speaking people and used it all the time.
