:: The Procrastinator's Table ::

I finished my table...

actually, you'd be quite proud of me; I finished this project the same weekend I started it.
A VERY BIG DEAL TO ME!!!
You know the procrastinator I am prone to be.

After all...
I lived with my bedroom floor looking like this for little more than a month!

I didn't change much out on the walls. I did hang the white shelf back onto the wall. Yes, it fell down. (you can barely see it in the above photo)  Crash!  that was a night I didn't get much sleep.
It's securely attached now though.

I didn't paint the inside of the table/cabinet.  Didn't see any point in it; as there is a door!

Also, the slide out tray for extra surface... only got a little paint along the edge.

I know what you're thinking.  Wow, --- You really went out on a limb there with your choice of paint color!
...And Well, Yes, I did! You know me so well.
You, dear faithful reader, have known my struggle.

You might remember last year around about this time (a year ago this month!) I wrote this:

I think I've been making myself crazy! All along I thought it was that "White was so peaceful"; and to some it may be. But, let me tell you-- if you can't achieve The Shabby White look... it's NOT peaceful. It becomes a crazy cycle; and there you are, just spinning your wheels, trying to accomplish something that just isn't you. ~CorninmyCoffee-pot (more on discontentment in the home)

So what color is it?
Valspar Terra Cotta Red...

Or is it?!?!

It kind of looks like Black and Decker Firestorm Orange...

Doesn't it?

Oh, and just so you know...

I'm happy with the color! :)

Thank you to these 2 ladies for allowing me to use their photos and for inspiration!

***Oh, and just so you know... I used the Valspar paint sample and plaster of paris to make my own DIY chalk paint and sealed it with Minwax finishing paste wax (with a little bit of stain added to make it darker)

You being happy is the most important thing.

I tried being a white person and it just isn't me although I love to look at all white homes.

Same here. White homes are nice to look at in pictures sometimes. But to me it says boooring. I love color. Especially orange!!! It's always been my favorite color and lately my husband has agreed to allow some into our décor and he actually admitted to liking it. :D

If you like the color, then it's perfect! I had to smile when I saw you had painted it orange because I know how much you like that color. I think it turned out great and how cool is that little slide out? Ann

Do you love it? If you do -it's perfect~ Remember a few posts ago when you asked why people visited you and you were talking about what blogging means? I said I liked you because you were HONEST. lol....Who but an HONEST blogger would share a photo of stuff left for a month waiting to be taken care of? lol You are MY kinda gal. I got a spot like that downstairs. xo Diana

Now your table is not a frankentable anymore! I like it! You did what we should all do. Decorate our homes in the way that makes each us happy, not copying what the popular trends of the moment are. If you and your family are happy and content in your home, then that is the most important thing. I enjoyed watching the transformation and you have made me think about a project that I would like to tackle. Thanks for sharing!

I liked the color right off! Matches your quilt. Personally I'm tired of that white decor look; it's been around a long time. I noticed my local post office recently painted outdoor railings-- off-white. My first thought: oh, heaven forbid we use any color around here! And why is it things fall off the wall during the night??

We need color in our lives. White looks pretty in magazine photos, but do people actually live in those homes? If you have kids, grandkids, dogs, cats, and yes, even a husband, white just isn't going to stay white long.

The orange table really makes the orange in your quilt pop. It is great that you made a "silk purse out of a sow's ear". That is also what I love to do.
