I can not believe it is July already!
Our weather has been unusually cool for summer time. Except for a few humid days …I wouldn’t even know it was Summer.
I spent a little bit of time on the porch the other day—I put out some flags I painted last year—and never posted about them. I made them from some shutters I had in my resource pile…
I made a couple of U.S. versions of the flag and of course I had to make one for the Lone Star State too!
You can see from all the rain we’ve had that everything is just growing so fast! My Boston Ferns are doing really well too. I set them out in the afternoon to catch any rain water they can—the little green pot on the right has purple Wandering Jew in it; and it is not growing much, it still houses a little Wren’s Nest. She is working on her second family in there, I think.
The Crepe Myrtles out on the side porch—they are still blooming, though not as much. You can see that there has been some mowing going on today. I promise—if I sit still enough on the swing, I can see the grass growing.
If this rain ever lets up—I have the paint to finish off the eaves over the porch and the 2 sides of the house, North and South sides. Just when I think I’ll be able to paint—we get a week of rain. Believe me, I’m not complaining—we need all this rain. But—eventually, I am going to be at a point of NEEDING paint on the house too.
Do you have big plans for Independence Day? Picnic? Swimming? Watermelon and cookouts?
Yes! to all?!
Til next time, Be Blessed!

We have to mow our lawns every weekend due to the rains. Its crazy but not complaining! We need the rain and love it. My little Chihuahua looks like he's in the jungle though hopping through the yard. haha!
I love those flags you made. I especially like the Texas one. Very cute and creative.
I agree with the mowing...I believe we mow every 4 days.. The positive for me... I love to mow, so , it is all good.. Your flags look great and so does your porch.. I have some regular small flags sticking in several of my pots..We are planning a family cookout on Firday and on Sunday evening our BIble study group is having a cookout fellowship... Have a great week and Happy Fourth of July! Blessings!
Love your shutter flags, Pat.
The Crepe Myrtles are beautiful too!
Pat, those shutter flags are great! What a creative idea. I am partial to the Boston Ferns too :-) Going to a shindig at the 'kid's' house. They have invited a million young people and we most likely will feel quite ancient, but it will be great fun and people-watching. I hope all million don't show! Happy Fourth! Ann
Love the way you used the shutter. Great idea!
everything looks great, love the shutters!
my plans? to work on projects because we're suppose to get a cool front in a couple of days. Today's heat index was 103... no outdoor projects for me.

I love your nice, big, deep porch! I have a little square porch - not much more than a stoop, really. A nice big covered porch is sweet. :)
The little wren mamma has found a safe haven and she knows it! Love the shutter flags and all those who display honor to the US. We're expecting rain in a few days...can't wait!
