:: Fighting the Dull-drums

It has been so wet since the time change—cloudy and dark.  I generally like this time of year; when it gets dark early.  I like to draw the curtains and turn on the lamp and sit in front of the fire, crocheting, reading, or doing something light and relaxing.  This year—it hasn’t been that way.

It just seems dark and cold. I just want to hibernate and sleep. I’ve been turning in early in the evenings too.  Sounds depressing doesn’t it?   I can’t help but wonder what the Winter has in store for us—I hope to fight it back…and hold onto some of Fall.  We just don’t get much Autumnal Beauty like so many in other parts of the country.  No showy trees.

chilly blue sky

That large oak… still Green. Then one day it will be brown and with the first big wind… naked.  I know I say that alot—but it’s true.  True Texas Fall. Green one minute—gone the next.

I went outside on Sunday looking for some color.  I only had my iPhone.  I wish I’d carried my camera, it takes much better pictures than I do. ;)

I found color in the sky; and along the new barbed wire fence. Beautiful!  But DON’T TOUCH!

beautiful -bull nettle-don't touch

This is what we call Bull Nettle—not sure the scientific classification… probably …

Scientificus OUCHI!   or… LOOKY-NO-TOUCHY!

dry brown bull nettle

Not sure why this plant has died already—same plant; but brown.  It looks like it is SNARLING… baring all it’s little ouchi points!

Still beautiful.

I’ve read that many are sick, some getting over the crud.  I hope the rainy dreary weather doesn’t have the same affect on you, as it has had on me.  Blah!

I’m going to the doctor on Friday—and hopefully, we’ll get to the bottom of all this.  I want to get over this anemia—and BE STRONGER!

Thank you to all of  you for your encouraging words and prayers.  They do mean so much to me.

…Fighting back the dreary dull-drums.

‘Til next time, Be Blessed!

Likewise, teach the older women to be reverent in the way they live, not to be slanderers or addicted to much wine, but to teach what is good. Then they can urge the younger women to love their husbands and children, to be self-controlled and pure, to be busy at home, to be kind, and to be subject to their husbands, so that no one will malign the word of God. ~ Titus 2: 3-5

Praying for a good diagnosis and answers. I love this kind of weather when I can be home and curled up on the couch. Its hard staying motivated while at work.

I hope you start feeling better soon, Pat. I think once you are not so tired it will change your whole outlook on everything....PLUS you are dealing with getting rid of things...and a possible move...you just have a whole lot going on. That ALL takes a toll on you and how you feel about everything.

Sending up some little prayers for you. Like you, I am DREADING the winter cold (and snow here). xo Diana

I do hope you feel better soon! I had been eagerly waiting colder nights since I sweat a lot at night. Somehow that seems to have improved a bit. We are now in the "dirty" phase of fall; damp with lots of soggy leaves on the ground. I do love to sleep in and stay inside in the colder weather. I hope you find a way to enjoy it too!

I tired to get out in the sun yesterday because today it will be raining here. It is harder for me in the winter, because I am used to being outside so much. I hope your doctor visit goes well.

It really is amazing what a day or two of sunshine will do for us. OR, just the opposite, what a string of rainy, dark days does. Hope the Dr. will have some answers for you. As others have said, you do have a lot going on right now. Take care!!

We've had a really pretty fall, due to an abundance of rain this summer. :) Prettiest in a while.

I'm so sorry about the dull drums. I sure hope the dr appt yields an answer.

Dropping in from Kimberly's blog. Our fall foliage is just now starting to show up here in Arkansas. I know that bull nettle well, and steer clear of it! I hope you feel better soon.
