Finally Got my Lamps Done!

When I first saw this....

I knew immediately that I wanted to copy THAT idea with THIS LAMP....

We inherited a pair of these from my MIL's home after she passed...
I love the amber hobnail glass bowl but wasn't wild about the wood and brass pedestal...

So I wrapped 'em up ~ yeah, like a present to me!  (yes! that is christmas wrap- we were all out of newspaper- I know.)

Then I painted them with this...

I am using this whole can of Hammered Bronze from  Rustoleum
EV-ER-Y WHERE...
I didn't get a picture of the shade before; but I only spent $1 on the pair (at my favorite place to shop~~BargainLand,USA)
Now~~ they both well, one of them looks like this!!!
 So pretty!

This is the close up of the shade...  Like Polly, I used an old piece of lace. I didn't Tea Stain mine; instead I went with it as is because it was already a bit yellow in color. (not ecru, but yellowish)
This is my lamp with the light on... Isn't that AMBER Hobnail pretty?   I just love it!!!
All the little gadgets and accouterments are from MIL stash - costume jewelry box and my FIL's tie clips and an old button box from her house, too.  My favorite was her little watch held on by his cuff links...
It made Honey smile too!

I have to say THANKS POLLY!  For showing us this lovely idea- Because I really wanted to use these lamps in my living room RE-DO and just wasn't sure how to make them look pretty again.

So all in all it was a fun project. I still have to finish the second one. I'm just glad to Gitt'r Done~~But I wanted to hurry and post this- cause it was just so pretty!
** I finally got the second lamp finished and snap a quick pic- of the two together.

Though I don't know if they'll be sitting together or not. They actually look pretty together, huh?  I'm not sure which way I like them yet. Anyway...

God Bless you
and
Thanks for reading!

**When the time comes I may post this at Songbird's Gitt'r Done party-- cause I'm proud I finally got something marked off the list and can say I Gott'r done!

How pretty!! Such a great update for your MIL's lamps. I love all of the little bits and pieces you added to the shade.
Thanks for your continued prayers for me and my family. Bruce's disease has progressed over the past few months but his positive attitude continues to inspire me every day!
Hope you're having a wonderful weekend.

It turned out great Pat! The good thing about yours is that you have personal momentos on it, and that makes all the difference in the world. Being able to use things that mean something to you, and be able to have them in a lace where you'll see them often, is always a nice treat.
I'm glad I inspired you!

Pat, they look great! Your living room is coming right along...Love all the bits and pieces and the finish on the lamps. I just found something great on the side of the road, by my neighbor's house, just wanting someone to pick it up...some kind of tub/bucket on legs...going to use it for my dirty laundry...I've had an inspiration pic so similar, for ever...just waiting for this find! I love how your lampshade came out and it couldn't look more pretty on the sweet lamps that you put them on. I did a post of lampshades a while back. I had seen so many pretty ones done with lace too.
Did you happen to see the post that June (Laughing with Angels) makes. She has some wonderful creations.
Enjoy all the light...it's so pretty now.

I love how the lamp looks now! So glad you didn't change the glass part, love the color too.
I didn't see this on polly's blog, but now I may just have to file it for future reference. Your lr makeover is really coming along so well. So fun to get to see it all unfold.

Pat - how wonderfully charming! That little lamp is the "crow's toes" in my opinion : ) How wonderful that you made a beautiful heirloom from a wonderful heirloom! It just doesn't get any better than that. Wow. Makes me want to go dig through my mom's basement!

I really love those lamps and the shade cover is especially nice.. I've always been afraid the shade (fabric over it) will catch fire if left on too long.. sorry, I'm a worry wort!
Lacy or crochet covers are always nice!
Your comments on my using Live Writer.. well, I'm not totally sold on it yet.. you will have to give it a try, different yes, but a bit of extra work.. I like being able to put on the watermark but the font looks like I chose a new one but comes into the blog exact as dashboard..oh well.. give it a try!
Thanks for stopping by.

How wonderful. A Gitter Done! project inspired by a Gitter Done! project. I love it.
I think your lamps turned out beautifully. You started with some very good inspiration and then turned them into a real You. I think they look especially good together!
Thank you for participating in Gitter Done!
