Notice anything Different?

A few weeks ago ~~ actually just 10 days ago.
We had perfect weather.
80°  and sunny.

We built a rail on our porch!
Now if the weather would just straighten up enough to so we can paint it.

Here is what we did.  Rose (confessions of a curbshopaholic) will love this!!! (and maybe a few others of you will too) SMILE ;)

First we rescued this:

 left hand side.
 right hand side.
A FUTON!
Don't ask me why I didn't just take one picture. Because I DON"T KNOW.

No we didn't rescue it to make a rail. But it was good wood so we thought we'd save it for something. I was thinking it was the right length for board and batten pieces.
Immediately- Honey questioned my motives.  I told him-- that is perfectly good wood. We'll be able to find a use for it SOMEWHERE!

He thought of THIS right there on the spot!
This is what we came up with.
This is from the door- looking out.

We tried to use as much as possible. Both the seat and the back of the futon were long enough to go across the front. We have the arms left the curvy parts and we need to make a small rail to go across the left hand side of the steps; next to the porch swing.
See the part I've circled? (close up below)

That is the manufacturer's slot for adjustment from couch to bed... We filled that with scrap wood and glue and saw dust... (not picture) it still needs sanding and then once it is painted it won't be noticeable.
We also put a cap on that open square post.

I can't wait to get it all painted I'll post pictures of it when it completed.

That is how we spent our sunny Sunday afternoon.
It was fun!

Now if this weather will let up! I can get to paintin'

God Bless you
and
Thanks for reading!

That looks great. Can you use the end pieces across the end of the porch?

Great way to repurpose and add character to your front porch. It looks great! I'm jealous of your gorgeous weather! I'll be back to see her all painted!

You are so right, I do love it! I have a curbfound futon waiting to become the railing around my daughters attic bedroom landing when I ever get around to working on it! We certainly do share the same brain, don't we? ;)
