:: Bedside Table Re-Do ::

This week I worked on a little project for my youngest son. While for the last 7 years he has lived with different siblings and shared rent; he is just now moving out on his own and doesn't have much in the way of furnishings.

I painted this table and mirror w/ hooks for him. He likes things to look a little bit more Contemporary in STYLE.

This bedside table was free; it came out of my MIL's house. It has seen better days. I'm not sure he'll be keeping the original hardware. He informed me, that he has a chest of drawers he'd like painted (with a big cheesy grin on his face) "pretty please,with sugar on it, Mom." So, new hardware for both pieces will probably tie them in nicely, since they are from different sets.

After some DIY chalk paint and Minwax furniture wax; I think it looks much better.

All in a Mother's days work! :)

Those of you with keen eyes may have noticed the magazine on the table in the top picture. I was ecstatic to receive my first copy of FOLK magazine in the mail today. Not too long ago-- I left a comment at Funky Junk Interiors and won the drawing she was having for a years subscription! THANKS AGAIN DONNA!

I haven't cracked it open yet. I want to sit down 'uninterterrupted' with a ice cold glass of tea and read it cover to cover. Do you do that?

The little chest looks really beautiful and so contemporary. You've done a fabulous job on it.
I have never hear of the Folk magazine, perhaps you could tell us a little about it. After you read it from cover to cover, of course. Yes, I like to read it from front to back in one sitting. While sipping tea!

It's hard to believe that's the same chest! I hope he keeps that wonderful hardware. I love to sit with a new magazine and read it cover to cover -- don't do it nearly often enough.

It's neat that you're able to help your son get settled into his new place and I can see why he might want you to help refinish a chest of drawers...You did a wonderful job on that little side table. Night and Day difference! Congratulations on your win at Funky Junk Interiors... I haven't seen Folk magazine yet, but will definitely check it out. Great Post Pat!

Patricia...that's what moms are for, right? Jamie usually follows up her request with something like "it's great blog content" lol

yep, the hardware will tie it in nice with the other piece. Gotta LOVE diy chalk paint!

Magazines? I do like to wait till I can go cover to cover, and then they end up piling up! LOL
