:: Art, Wine, and AN ABSTRACT PAINTING ::

Apparently, there is a trend taking places right under our noses...
though, I'm no artist and this could be something that has taken places since, I don't know... the Renaissance? People are having a glass of wine and painting a picture.

Simultaneously and at the same time, even! People... as in small groups. For fun!

I've only just heard of this.

There is a new art studio in town...and the owner offers the opportunity to have paint parties, fund raisers, and experience  painting like an AR-TEEST!  fbpage: Stop-n-Gogh art studio

Most recently, Monday night,
I was treated to a night of fun, frivolity, artistry and spirits, though I did not partake.

Oh, I painted alright...
I had fun,too.

I was even frivolous at times... (slathering paint with reckless abandon)

Going wild with this funky chicken.

Painting, minding the rules (oh, yes, there were rules)
Let's see.
  • Relax
  • Have fun
  • Have a glass of wine (if that is your thing)
  • Breathe (remember it's just paint)

Nothing I could find more entertaining than going out with my 2 daughters and having a fun time...painting the town chicken. (Oh, and watching a bunch of women that I don't even know get plastered partake and slapping some paint on a canvas)-

We had so much fun!

When we got home, Our husbands all liked our chickens/roosters... but to us, we thought TOGETHER that they looked more like rejects from a Kellogg's Ad- agency!

I'm not a wine drinker... so I'm thinking next time I try to paint a canvas...maybe something stronger than iced tea?!  Like a RED BULL! or something. Seriously, we were sober when we painted these.

Once I got it home and on a shelf in my kitchen... he doesn't look TOO bad. I don't know...that could be the iced tea talking...

I named him... "Corn-flake".

Corn Flake is cute! Like that gold background. I had read of these parties last year or early this year on another blog (who knows which one??). I guess if wine is your thing, why not? But as an artist, creating is the thing, not the drinking. But that's just my opinion.

corn flake! hahahaha LOL

I too, have heard of these classes...I even bought a "deal" to one. I won't be partaking either. ;)
It's funny... the classes here paint Fleur-de-Lis :) I don't think a single class (and there are a LOT of places holding them) in our town would teach a class on painting a chicken. :)
I love them all, I think you gals did a great job.... love the pics, thanks for sharing this part of your life with us! :)

Hey! You did a great job and I love your abstract chicken! He/She is wonderful. I LOVE to go to those things when I am the only one that doesn't drink. I have more fun than any of them and feel a whole lot better the next day...lol This reminded me of something that happened to me and I will have to post about it one day soon- xo Diana
