:: Happy Accidents-

I wanted to pop in and show you some of what I've been up to these past few days...
Oh! and tell you I am so happy with my new arrangement with my dishes. :)

I told you all about my plan to have my everyday dishes out in the open so I could enjoy them and USE THEM; along with my motive being ,in the end,  less dusting.  IT'S WORKING!
I. LOVE. IT.

I did end up going back and finishing up the job THIS WEEKEND (FINALLY!)

Vintage Dishes- before:

after:

This was my motivation...

Not the guineas.
The 18 month old BOY!

Oh yes!  He is a climber.
In an effort to get his pacifier... he decided he would stand on the bucket of paint.
Long story short...
the paint got spilled on my kitchen floor.
(for the record- I was watching all this unfold...so you can imagine my surprise when the lid came off the paint)
No worries.

We don't cry over spilled paint in this house.

No... I look at it more as a 'happy accident'...

I've always thought about painting this floor in my kitchen. It is just sub-flooring.
So, why not grab a brush, right?
I just never had the guts.

trying to decide if we'll just paint it out solid or do a pattern.

In the mean time... work is moving along on the settee...

NOT AT AN ALARMING RATE...
but steady.

I put the burlap on; and have the neck roll sewn into place; and I'm working on the springs right now.
Hopefully I'll get a couple of posts with pictures, up about that soon.

Also, I am reading this blog...
tales of ted and agnes
Here is her ABOUT page  (link no longer works)

She lives in Yorkshire (UK) and she sews and crochets, has children, dogs, chickens...
Oh and she has painted floors!

So how about you, how do you feel about painted floors?  Love 'em? Hate 'em?
Would you? Could you?   Plain or Patterned?

Love it and I love your collection of pot holders. My ex-sil collected them, too. xo Diana

Love your Bob Ross reference! Painted floors are neat in the right setting. Mine have old varnish on them-- would have to sand. No thanks.

It turns out you didn't need the guts! LOL :) Maybe this was an opportunity God allowed to push you past your fear of possibly not liking it...

I like painted wood floors: plain or patterned. I saw painted wood floors with a huge diamond pattern, but worn away so the paint wasn't opaque. The lines were clear, but the diamonds were rustic in coverage...I love the look!

Though, I am sure, whatever you chose to do, it will be beautiful! Keep the faith!

Considered painting a diamond pattern on my own kitchen floor. That is as far as I got though. So you had a happy accident there, what have you got to lose by painting the floor now? Consider it the courage you needed to get the job done!

I think the floor will look great painted. Makes it easier to clean too I would think but may show the dirt more. I have a strip that is painted from a wall that was brought down. I painted it too light I think. Love your pyrex out. It is so pretty to see. I use mine all the time too.

sooo funny... well, not hahaha funny... but since the little guy didn't get hurt, we'll call it funny. Funny that you mention it. I'll be redoing MY floors in the spring. :(

Paint? I do love painted floors...not so sure I would want to paint my hardwood floors... but I might.... it sure sounds better than refinishing them, doesn't it?
I'd have to decide on a color, a sheen, seal or not to seal?
But, this story reminds me of someone who got paint spilled on their tile floor and as she was wiping it up, realized she liked the way the paint changed the grout... cleaner looking without redoing the grout. happy accidents indeed!

LOL I just LOVED this post! :) Well I had painted floors before in an old farmhouse that we rented as a young married so they are fine with me.

As long as I don't have to paint them again, ha ha :) Once is enough! :)

I wish I had wood floors here, but I don't. I think a white floor in a cottage by the lake would be beautiful.

Love the idea of the painted floors. Especially since they are subfloor material. Kind of exciting, I think. Pattern or no? Hmmmm. I guess it depends on the surrounding area. Paint it without first and then you can always add a pattern later. My gosh woman, have you not got enough going on without dealing with pattern-painted floors?!?!? Ann

My mom used to have similar potholders. I love painted floors, and have toyed with the idea of painting floors in my middle bedroom...My kids tease me that I paint everything white. My daughter thinks I should just tweak the finish - which may mean sanding, etc. Paint sounds easier. :)
