:: TO Do --Time OUT::

::Day 26::

Around here not much changes on the inside of my house… occasionally, a table gets moved or walls get painted.  But one thing that changes with the seasons is the placement of furniture.

For the living room during the winter months the couch and love seat are placed along the walls pulled in just a little bit from the windows to stave off the cool air. But away for the wood stove to be comfy and safe.

Winter time arrangement:

Color Co-ordinated swags

But in the summer time… I generally move the furniture on a diagonal. Slightly rotated  clockwise…not too much to clog up the entry. (we have no foyer or formal entry)  But I move the furniture enough for the window A/C to be used and air flow to be properly managed.

Summer time arrangement:

That is how it is with an overstuffed couch and loveseat.

Now… with the upcoming arrangement… we’ll be having a smaller less FILLING set up.

A couch and chairs.

I’ve never had just a couch and chairs in this house.  I’m not sure how it will play out.

I was feeling a tad sluggish and under the weather today… not getting much accomplished--- so I was looking at different arrangements… Our furniture now is plaid (neutral colors) the Settee or Couch that I’m covering is going to be neutral also…in fact, I’m going to have to do something with the curtains or they will blend in too much. They are drop cloth curtains…so an easy change up. It will probably be a FREE AND EASY CHANGE UP TOO. :)

These are cottage living spaces that I found appealing today. (you may click on any of these photos below to take you to the source)

Neutral colored couch with colored pillows…

Again…neutral furnishings with touches of color (also love the warm woods in the home) if you’re unfamiliar with this one…it is Cindy’s home @ Oakview Cottage (what is not to love there?)

I also like the arrangement of couch and chairs here… :) oakview cottage livingroom

I chose this cottage photo…because of the green rug.

You may have seen my rug in my own top two photos above… or you may have read about my  Stinky- Free Cycle Rug here.  Not getting rid of the rug.  So will be working some type of neutral cottage magic around my couch and my rug. Need all the pointers I can get! :)

I chose this photo…because of the mismatched furniture grouping.

and this one from the Vintage Style Magazine… vintage style magazine

I will definitely be having mismatched furniture…

So I sat around and did a little day dreaming today… looking forward to tinkering around the living room!

My furniture only seems to fit one way so I never get to rearrange but I am thinking of switching a few tables around since we are getting new carpet on Monday and most of our furniture is in the dining room right now. Good luck with the redo, I loved the inspiration photos you picked.

I like the vintage style magazine photo but it would never work in our house because all the seating has a tv view. I like the florals because they hide a lot which is why I like the neutral layout better but I know it would somehow get dirty. Good luck with your choice.

I like mismatched furniture! Don't want everything so matchy matchy. Love the picture with the neutral furniture and colored pillows, so pretty! Loved the last picture with the mismatched furniture too! It is fun to dream! It doesn't caolst anything either!!

I love mismatched furniture. It is creative and warm, and welcoming. If things are too "matchy" it feels too much like a furniture show room and not as inviting. I'm really looking forward to seeing the furniture you are reupholstering. I'm sure it will be amazing.

I have been feeling blah lately. I am sure whatever you do will look great. I have lots is mismatched things. It's just what I have. Would live to buy new but that is not happening. Can't wait to see your finished sofa. Have a great one. Blessings!

I used to love reading Erma Bombeck (definitely showing my age) and I remember one of her columns about buying a new pillow very inexpensively. She put the pillow on the sofa and the sofa looked ratty so a new sofa . . . now the carpet didn't match the sofa . . . the new carpet didn't match the walls . . . .

That is definitely the pattern of decorating at my house.

Have fun turning your dreams into reality.

I did a little bit of dreaming and planning today, too. There are some big changes coming into our lives with my new job. I'm in training now, I won't actually start until January most likely, so I still have a bit of time to plan and dream…I'll tell on my blog what is coming my way.
Thank you for the shout out about my little blog.
I really like the last photo very much! It's the vintage that calls to me, I guess. :)
