::Regarding Random ‘Passers-by’ and a Christmas Story ::

So in my last post I wrote to you telling you all about the traffic I’ve had on my blog this  year, the posts that were read the most, oldest posts; and how those readers came to land on Corn in My Coffee-Pot.
I also told you, I have random passers-by.  These are people that pop into your blog, because they went to Google and did a search for some random thing or other and clicked on the link for you blog.
We all have them.
These are people that we wouldn’t normally reach out to or come in VIRTUAL contact with—but they find us.
I have to tell you a Christmas Story!
So, the Sunday before Christmas, December 22 to be exact;  I woke up, had some coffee; and sat down to check my emails.
I had a direct email from someone I had no idea who it was.  When I say ‘direct email’ I mean he didn’t leave a comment on my blog.  He went to my blog got my email from my blog and very politely sat to down and wrote the email.
It was the most courteous ‘spam’ email I’d ever gotten.
But as I read it…I felt like this was a genuine inquiry.  Not some random spammer!
No. This young man was serious.
He had read through several posts
all because he was searching for a Collectors Item and was a big fan of San Diego Chargers!

He wanted to buy the ‘thrifted’ jacket!  I couldn’t believe it.  I had bought the jacket while out thrift shopping with T.H.
…and well you can read all about that here.
He had done an ‘images’ search I’m assuming…because that is how he found me… in January that post will be 2 years old!
I emailed him and told him that T.H.  doesn’t wear the jacket and he was willing to sell it (seeing he was indeed a Chargers fan…I’d checked out his facebook)
Yes!  weird I know.
We came to agreement—we shared several emails back and forth and making sure it was the right size and would fit—we agreed on a price, and used Paypal to make the exchange of funds and addresses.  He was buying it for himself and by this time a couple of days passed and he knew it wouldn’t be there before Friday (after Christmas).
He sent me a picture of himself wearing it Friday evening!  (NOT SHOWN)  He was just the nicest young man.
I’m such a big skeptic, you know?  But he was NOT trying to be fraudulent in any way.
We talked about  football, and nursing. He is a nurse and saw my post about our daughters recent graduation!  We also talked about SCRIPTURE!  He shares his faith on his FB page and I share mine here—we knew that we had Christ in common.
It made T.H. very happy to see this young man wearing the jacket…a true fan of the game and the San Diego Chargers.
It made me happy to know there are still genuine young people out there to deal with; God had used him to restore some faith in me, regarding mankind too!
I had never listed the jacket in my Etsy—but it sold anyway! I’m still surprised over it, can you tell?
…and Everybody’s happy!
There are so many people in my life that just. DON’T. GET. BLOGGING.  But I must say, there are reasons I do it---and ONE reason is because God brings people into my life that I might not other wise meet.   I’m thankful for each and every one of them!

Do you have story like that?
A story where you connected with someone over something completely random; and totally unexpected?

Til next time, Be Blessed!

Whatever you do, do your work heartily, as for the Lord rather than for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance. It is the Lord Christ whom you serve. ~Colossians 3:23-24

So cool!!! I'm from San Diego myself and my granny used to have a jacket just like that one. It's nice when "real" people find my blog and enjoy posts as much a I enjoyed writing them.
Have a safe and happy New Year!

What a great story!!! I love the connections we can have with people who were once strangers to us. I believe if the world had more interaction of the "good" sort then this old world would be a better place! Thanks for sharing!

wow! this post brought tears to my eyes. Amazing! Gotta love the power of God (and the internet) I think they both work in mysterious ways.
So happy that the young man "found" you and you were able to help him get the jacket of his dreams. :)

Happy New Year Patricia!
