:: As For Crafting…

I’ve been doing all sorts of things.
I’ve not knitted much.  I mean to—but with learning something new I find I must stay at it- or I’ll either forget what I’ve learned or just lose interest all together.  I’ve NOT lost interest in knitting.  I still very much want to—I think it will help if I make a list of some simple things I’d like to make and just do them.  Otherwise, I sit down to knit and just make wash cloths all day.  But, you know me;  I’m not going to be happy making wash cloths. No—I’d like to try something a bit more challenging.
So for now—I’m not knitting.
I have been doing a little bit of crocheting.  Mainly it has been ‘towel modification’  I bought some cute little cup towels with vintage looking coffee pots and cups on them and what I like to do is cut them in half and crochet handles on them. I get two towels from one.

The handles make for an easy way to hang them.  I haven’t made any in a while.  After making the first set--- I remembered why.  My range doesn’t have a bar across the front like most ovens have.  I just have a handle with a latch.  So having a place to hang my towel is not a simple thing.  I can hang them on the fridge handle—or perhaps the curtain rod on the microwave counter.  I may have to use some sort of hook.
I’ve also done a lot of sewing. I’ve been reading a blog called The Renegade Seamstress and also—Marci @Stone cottage Adventures Both of these ladies have such a talent when it comes to Re-making clothing.  The best clothes for this are of course from your own closet, but if you have little funds and want to try something complete different—then you can visit the thrift shops and find things there to alter.
I’ve altered a pull over sweater and made it into a cardigan.

I’ve altered to over sized t-shirts and made them fitted and more flattering to my figure.

I’ve enjoyed it so much!  I have a bag full of clothes waiting to be altered into something sweet and special!  Some for me and some for the Little grand daughters. :)
I’m just learning how to do a lot of this stuff—and yes, I used white thread on a turquoise tshirt. One to help me see it (as I’m just learning) and two I didn’t have turquoise thread!  (I do however like the contrast!)
Are you learning anything new?  Sewing, knitting, painting (oh, I’d love to paint!) …I think trying new things and practicing old skills keeps the mind sharp.
Well, I’d like to think that anyway.

** Also, I've edited to add the links for the tutorials I've used.  I'm not trying to reinvent the wheel-- their tutorials are great, I found them helpful and hope you do too. You can go back up and click the links to take you to those blogs. Enjoy~

Til next time, Be Blessed!

I recently bought a kit to learn use a drop spindle, but that is about it. I'm still working on my spring cleaning - not much time left to finish it. I love the towels. I sold some like that last year at the Farmer's Market.

I love Marci! She is so talented and your t-shirt is too cute. Did you throw away the middle piece of the sleeve then attach the bottom part to the top part? Just trying to figure out what you did. LOL. i really want to do the same to my t-shirts.
I'm packing right now so not too creative. I did make a really cute Mr and Mrs wedding banner for a friend.
