::Frugal Fodder~ 14~ Prudent Pinning::

Well, there is one week left in my February challenge to NOT SPEND if we don't have to.

So, when we ran out of Mozzarella Cheese the week before last and I made an unplanned trip to town and bought junk food AND bread---I decided right there and then; I need to learn how to make bread.
Now don't get me wrong-- I HAVE A BREAD MACHINE. But, I've been wanting to make bread without the use of it for years; and never have. I thought this was the perfect time to do it.

I looked through my Pinterest Boards   and found this recipe--

Homemade One Hour White Bread

It really took no time at all. Actually, it would have probably went a lot quicker had I not put it on the wood burning stove to rise; because I panicked when I went to get it and the bottom was toasted!
Then I may have left it in the oven a tad longer than necessary...I get addle-brained when I cook. Really.  I don't cook because it's fun and I have nothing else better to, I cook to eat, folks. It's just how it is.

The next item I Pinned and used this month was for a CITRUS CLEANER.
I buy limes and make lime-aid...mainly because when I go to the grocery store, they're always marked down!
So, what to do with all the rinds, right?

I've been wanting to try this...
You can see her tutorial I didn't photograph my process.

Homemade All Purpose Cleaner: Lemon Lime Vinegar

It is great for degreasing and I've used it to wash down the refrigerator and deep freeze on the outside and the stove, too. Plus it's non-toxic!

I was surprised too, when I brought this dressing table out to make-over, I sprayed the veneer with the lime-vinegar solution; and the veneer came right off, with a little scraping!

It took about 4 hours, not continuous, but over all-- you just have to let it soak into the veneer and use a little elbow power.

I am so visual when it comes to finding things, it helps me to visualize where something was last time I saw it, or to get a mental image. That is why I LOVE Pinterest. I can easily find what it is I'm looking for. I tend to be an organized messy-- so Pinterest helps me with this. I spent the better part of an evening last week,  'pinning' most of my bookmarks and deleting any that have a dead link. I'd much rather look for something with an image, than to read the titles, and find the folder (which I don't usually make) for the link. Pinning is much simpler!
Occasionally, I see things on Pinterest that I like and I RE-PIN them-- I don't just get on there and Pin like crazy.  "Ain't Nobody got time for that!"
I generally, just use it for a bookmark page. :)

How about you? Do you pin prudently?  Do you copy what you pin?
Do you pin for fun or convenience?

Bless the LORD ,O my soul, and all that is within me. Bless His holy name!
~Psalm 103:1

Good Morning Pat!

I love the degreaser idea...I'll have to try that! By the way, I just posted a super easy, no knead bread recipe on my blog...which is really easy to make in the wood cook stove...just in case your looking for another bread recipe. I use it all the time!

Sweet blessings from Maine!

I'm with you, Pat, regarding cooking. I cook to nurture and feed my family, but it is not an activity of choice for me. I too am trying to get bread making back into my routine. I make an orange peel and vinegar solution and have found it helps to kill fire ants. Hard to believe February has come and is going quickly! Spring will be to South Texas shortly!

I enjoy cooking but not when I have to rush or have interruptions.
Add me to the Pinterest fan club. I used to bookmark and would lose them, or print stuff and that is not thrifty.
Hope you keep having a spend less Feb.

Good to hear how the cleaning solution worked. I used clementine peel but still have to get it out of the canning jar.
I use the pins as bookmarks too. They accumulate quickly, so I try to keep the number down....except for my LOL board!

The bread looks great. I don't own a bread machine, simply due to space and that it runs on electricity. I don't use Pinterest either. I think it's due to keeping my time on the computer to a minimum.

I think the bread looks tasty! I may have to use my lemons rinds as you have used your lime ones, Should work, right? I don't pin much, except of course for the one you did for me! Need to get back on Pinterest. I get stuck on there and waste time sometimes. Ann

yay for the bread, and love that the veneer came off!
I pin for fun and convenience. I recently did the same thing, pinned a bunch of bookmarks. :)

You are so smart to use your pins and get some things done. I always forget. I hardly pin much except as a bookmark. I waste too much time if I just go there to look and admire. Keep up the good work!

I pin for fun, it's a whole lot of fun, I think. I am very visual as well. Good for you trying bread, it's not easy, and it's terribly time consuming if you do it the long way.
