:: JOT SHEET

October 2 post card

Like a good student I’ve written out my JOT SHEET.

I remember when I was in the 5th grade—one of our first writing assignments for the year, was “What I did this Summer”  or some such assignment.   Writing what you did over the summer is a pretty easy assignment; for both you and the teacher.

By the time I was in high school—I remember being given the assignment, learning what an essay was, and given only 45 minutes to write.  Forty-five minutes is an eternity—when you’re 15.  The teacher would give us 5 minutes to write out a JOT SHEET.  A JOT SHEET was basically a list of ideas, facts or topics—depending on the assignment.

Suppose you were going to write about the carnival coming into town… you’d list as much as you knew about carnivals.  The JOT SHEET was the fuel for the fire in your imagination!

Yesterday, I had no idea- none, what so-ever-  what I was going to write about. Still don’t.  But after being reminded

”Oh! it’s October and didn’t you want to participate in this again? Yes! why yes… I do!”

AND all the other thoughts that ran through my mind.
I almost didn’t.
Then I made my JOT SHEET!
Jot Sheet

It IS in pencil.

It IS NOT in stone.

It’s my list of ideas.

Lists, my go-to when I need to get something from TO-DO to TO-DONE!

The Fuel. Tinder. Stubble. To be burned up—by putting into words or quite literally made to ash.

Everything that I write about from this point— my ideas, my thoughts, my words, must not shine a light on me; but on The One that gives The Spark. The real reason behind why I want to write.

In my own words.

On a another note;  My 40 Days to Organized is still something I’m doing. These are overlapping… and quite possibly will collide at some point. That list looks an awful lot like my JOT Sheet, doesn’t it.    They are written on the same tablet after all. I promise they are 2 separate lists!  I’ve got a cook book, Writing My Own Cook book new LOW CARB RECIPES into it’s pages. I feel pretty good right now—health wise. I feel as though I’ve been bumped into overdrive! I will certainly have to be creative and see just how I will blend some of these things together this month. I’m writing everyday already in a journal for my grown ups—and am contemplating taking that in a different direction. For now—just sharing my days within the pages of that journal. Come March—maybe?  That might all change.

Here are two more links about Notebooks I’ve started or still have plans to start. Here and here
Please bear with me as I have many running lists… and you know me, it’s liable to get crazy around here for the next 31 to 40 days!

I don’t know that I’ll write about all these different books here this month…but I do hope to write in some of them more!

Til next time, Be Blessed!

I love the jot sheet idea.. I have been telling my hubby...we need to make a list and begin marking things off.....otherwise, we keep moving from one thing to another before we complete one.. it feels good to complete something...I do keep a "jot sheet" of sorts with my Bible study notes... ideas for talks...studies...themes for retreats...even dreams I may get while studying....book titles. I usually put a date too...It is always fun to go back and read...I am beginning to want to think things out around this ole house... I think I am going to do an extra big yard sate or post online...Always great to visit with you.. Blessings!
