:: ~ On Staying on Task...::

* warning: link heavy post-- :)

If I've told you Once...I've told you at least 5 times... I have difficulty staying on task!  Why? I don't know.

I've revisited ways that worked in the past
I've tried new versions of the old ways
I've updated the old OLD version with modern technology

I've made lists of BIG "PIE IN THE SKY" important PLANS
for 20.12 and 20.13

It is starting to be just a tad bit of an embarrassment...no. Strike that...

It is just humbling.
Embarrassment would be admitting to pride.
Humbling-- well. I just don't have the words.
Embarrassment would be  me listing all the reasons-- I don't get anything done.
Humbling-- well. I'd admit something needs to change.

Yesterday-- I took a plain ol' humble piece of paper; and wrote down tasks that needed to be done. Not things I wanted to do. Just things that NEEDED to be done.

In other news my bobbin case came on Friday, just so you know I am staying on task with the Settee--

Sadly, the bobbin case for my machine broke Friday afternoon!  See that little spring clip--to the right of the bobbin case?  (yes, right there in the piece of tape...) it popped out, not ONCE...but TWICE.

Right now, I'm awaiting an email reply from the vendor-- I paid more for this little part than I did the whole machine!
Very frustrating.  After fiddling with the machine-- I'm finding, it could in fact still be the problem of the machine, not the bobbin case. So... I may fix it, yet again, and try sewing with it to see what happens. I just don't know at this point.

In the mean time-- I've made a new list for today, and that is to get the couch up on saw horses and start taking the TACK STRIP OUT AND BREAKING IT DOWN.
Yes, how is that for staying on task?
Not too bad, huh?

Do you make lists?
Do you have a fancy-schmancy notebook?
Is list making another form of procrastination?

(Ooo! I see another link heavy post looming on the horizon...you know how I procrastinate, I could write a book!)

And let us not be weary in well doing, for in due season you will reap, if you faint not. ~ Galatians 6:9

I make lists, but rarely. They work for me, so I should make lists more often.

I don't sew, because I have the same luck with sewing machines that you are having. They just don't cooperate for me. I don't think I've ever sewed when I didn't have problems with the tension and end up with a mess. Just not my forte!

I'm really looking forward to seeing how the 1930's sofa and chair turn out. Love that style!

I am like that when I clean house. I go to put something away in another room and end up starting something else. Very bad habit.

I have a pretty set schedule of chores so don't use lists. My husband, on the other hand, is often handed "honey-do" lists which is sometimes noted and sometimes ignored.

I make lists sometimes...so I don't forget..more often than not, I forget the list too, leave without it. Around the house I'll make one for when something really needs to get done. Cleaning the fridge, how do they get that way..? is right, not a favorite chore. I do thing when I get the urge to do them, if I need to clean the fridge and have it on a list it won't get done, it has to be a right now going to do that, and the list is put to the side.

I am forever making lists.. I use a little spiral notebook and I still can't seem to get it all done. I make lists because my brain gets overwhelmed but it seems like everytime I check off 2 items I add 5 more!. Does it ever end ? LOL

I sometimes make lists, but rarely follow them. I just do what I do when I do it!

I love lists, and tables. I make them often, and I DO think they help, if only to prioritize tasks that need to be done and help make us aware of the quantity of things we can schedule into any given day. Some things (like laundry) are never-ending, but necessary. Lists help us squeeze in the "special" projects, like upholstering a sofa, that fall outside the list of the never-ending stuff.
So, I say accomplishing ANYTHING on that list is a good thing.

Right now I keep a "stick to it" list on my computer desktop (for in progress craft projects). That way I won't have the urge to start something else. Ha ha ha! As for home projects, we have a list for that too. Then every morning, I make a list for the kids to check off as they get them done (housework). I don't have a fancy book, but I would love to have one. A few days ago, I spent 3 hours cleaning up my computer (kitchen) desk, filing, shredding, dusting, and tossing out. It was a job on my "get'r done" list for spring cleaning. Phew! Feels good to get something done too.

I have a to-do list. Somewhere. I think I lost it. I do love to check things off of it, though. If I ever find it, I'm going to check the heck out of it!

I lose things, does that count? And I always go outside with a task in mind and get waylaid by something else that I see that needs to be done then, too. Then I eventually get back to the task I meant to do in the first place. Usually. Sometimes not.

Is this a system? 'Cause baby, I'm really good at it!

Hopping over from Rhonda's blog after seeing you listed there. I had to laugh to myself because I seem to be a list maker. Yes I do think it's procrastination and I'm good at it! I'd rather be making a list or researching something than actually doing it. Glad to have found your blog, I will visit again soon. Enjoy the weekend
