:: Guess Who is Having an Anniversary?

I can’t believe it’s been a year already…

Our lil’ pup “Buster”  came to live with us a year ago (last Memorial Day Weekend).  He was a “Drop-off Dog” …a victim of poor owner ship.

We’ve had him a year. We have grown to love him so much. Right away he learned his place. Right away he knew this was home. Right away he became house broke. There was a time he stayed indoors ALL THE TIME - Except for long trips by Mom and Pop—there was that one time he had some sort of “come apart” while we were gone;  he killed the mini-blinds in two rooms, pulled down the curtains, knocked over furniture, left claw marks on a table and chewed my vintage couch (wood trim). I thought we had been robbed. Oh yes! and he almost destroyed my bible! (DIY Bible Recover)  Since then he stays out most of the time.  He has the whole property to roam.

He no longer eats my chickens.  Yes, he went through a phase. Now—sometimes, he gives chase; I think just to see them flap their wings and fly. But he has never killed anymore. Not after that whoopin’ with my shoe. :/

He sounds the alarm when other predators are in the yard though. He will not let them come near the chickens. He is the ONLY.DOG.EVER.  to lie on our back porch with his head held high watching and overseeing the flock. He will bark as soon as he hears or sees something out there.

He is a good dog.

He comes when I call him. He loves his tennis ball… OR a stick…OR a bone; as is the case below.

Buster 1 yr

He loves his homemade treats that I make for him.  (Dog Biscuit Recipe)  He does NOT love a collar. That cute little orange harness- he shredded. I don’t know how; but he did.  I tried another one. Then a cute little bandana—He doesn’t like ‘be-dazzled’.

Still, He is a good dog.

Buster 1 yr-2

He recently acquired a scar on his face, not sure how.  Here he is almost all grown up, one year later.

Oh!  and he has recently discovered our neighbors pond.  He likes to swim!  You know what gets the skunk off?  Pond water. He always smells a dern sight better after a swim…less skunky, more doggish!

He is about 14-15 months old now.  We’ve had him a year and he was about 12 wk old pup when we got him. Since I don’t know his birthday, I just recognize ‘his adopting us’ on Memorial Day---last year.

Seriously, I’ve never been one to say I have a ‘fur-baby’ or he is “my boy”.  But of all the animals we’ve had here; they’ve all belonged to my kids.  Buster is mine. He is my dog. My pet. When he does something bad- T.H. let’s me know by stating, “Your Dog, (fill in the blank)!!!”   But, when we are out in the yard and he wants to be petted he puts his head in my lap. He fetches the ball for ME. He plays tug –of-war on his knot ball, with ME—and he knows HE. IS. MY. BOY!

A good dog. Priceless.

Til next time, Be Blessed!

Oh my goodness, what a handsome Lad! He has such intelligent eyes. You and he are treasures to each other.
So happy to have you back. I was not getting your posts for such a long time and then last week, You Were Back!
Give Buster a scratch behind the ears and tell him he has an admirer in TN.

You have a tender heart for that really lucky pup! I know just how you feel. We took in an abandoned black lab almost three years ago and we just adore each other, lol! I believe that tenderness is a gift from God and to be cherished.
