Just When I Think...

That I might be getting back to blogging, I sit down to write and there is a series of things keeping me from it.

Last week ,or along about last Monday, I sat down and tossed out the ever-so-fun, not to mention easy Q and A template.  DID YOU EVER...hit an all time dry spell when you’re posting fun facts about yourself, that only your family  and a few really close friends ever needs know?   That's me...right now.

After that… it was the internet. No not THE internet.  Just my internet. It’s awful.  There are so few options here where I live…that don’t cost an unbelievable amount of moo-lah!  Basically, you get what you pay for.  I actually called them on the 11th and they said they’d be out on Monday, the 14th!

It didn’t happen.  Late Monday I got the call from the service guy… I’ll call him Juan.  He ended up at my house early Tuesday morning.

I was without internet all day.  Not the longest day of my life… but it was quite up there!
Tuesday evening… another service guy calls and said he was coming back out instead of Juan… this guys name was Shaun.  I’ll leave you to wonder if both of these names are real or made up on the spot!

I will say this… by the time Shaun got here, there was a torrent of rain spilling out over my house.  Shaun climbed up there anyway and made the proper repairs to the internet…
then came inside and made sure everything was working satisfactorily before he left… taking Juan’s ladder with him when he left. Yes, that ladder was my only hope all day, that someone would indeed be back to get the internet working.

** At this point, I need to remind myself to go ahead and write an email to the Wifi company commending Shaun for a job well done, and for being a trooper in the rain, on my roof, around about DUSK.  I mean, he should get a pat on the back!

Then, Thursday came… and the WI-FI was iffy.

There was a handful of other interruptions… no need to go into all that. Let’s just say… the “F” word… FAMILY.  HA!

When I sat down to write again… I found out that Microsoft had let Live Writer go OPEN SOURCE and NO LONGER WORK WITH BLOGGER. (THAT’S WHAT THAT MEANS!) Very poor planning in my opinion. After downloading the new Open Live Writer… it STILL does NOT want to work. That was late Thursday.  It took a bit of finagling … but I think I’ve got it all worked out now.
AS OF SUNDAY... STILL NO LIVE WRITER FOR BLOGGER.

But my word!  it’s a hassle!!!

For now, I’ll be posting from the Blogger platform—Kudos! to all who make blogging look so easy.  I applaud you.

Somewhere along in there… I got a hair cut.
It turned out pretty well; all things considered.
I went from waist length to neckline.

I cut it myself.

‘Til next time be blessed!

Doll House, Hobby Wood and Finger Splints at Local Hardware Store

Did you ever go shopping somewhere and just stumble upon something you just didn’t expect to find there and… that well, just blows your mind?

That’s what happened at LO (cal hardware store) last Wednesday night.  We went for roof coating…for the camper. We’re in Camper MODE right now, big time!  We also needed a certain set of bolts for the tail-lights…  There I am standing… no, I was sitting on a pallet of bagged charcoal for the grill.  Yep, I parked myself right there—while he nosed around all the different drawers for bolts. When I saw this… (sorry for the glare)

What?!  Hobby and Wood?
What really caught my eye was the third- drawer with the picture of popsicle sticks… on the front!
Kidding, right?  Nope.

I had to pull this drawer out and have a peek. Winking smile

WHOA!  Assorted sizes?!   Short ones, Long ones, and TONGUE DEPRESSORS!

Who knew this?   I live 45 mins to 1 hour from a Hobby Lobby. The Wal-Mart in our area…is limited and slightly picked over.  I mean we just only got a NEW FULL SIZED WAL-MART about 2 years ago…and a small Neighborhood Market right here in small town USA, in March!
Hobby supplies… and of the DOLL HOUSE VARIETY… ARE IN VERY LIMITED SUPPLY ‘round these parts!  If you didn’t know, I have a Doll house, two to be exact… I putter around with them, when time allows. I’ve come to love them.

Take a look at what else I found.

Wooden Flower Pot… got that label in the picture!

Wooden People shapes…

Whisky Barrels… or Barrels for whatever your brain can imagine. Doesn’t have to be whiskey.  It could be a Turkey and Christmas presents from the LONG WINTER! Winking smile (thank you, Ms. Ingalls-Wilder)

Oh!  and MILK JUGS, TOO!  For what else?  MILK!

ICAD WK 5- hobby wood 019

Thread spools… little, not quite small enough for a doll house. But imagine the possibilities!
 Seriously, who knew?!

ICAD WK 5- hobby wood 008

Small flat squares…

ICAD WK 5- hobby wood 009

Small round disks… (blurry phone pic, sorry)

ICAD WK 5- hobby wood 011

Large round disks… large being by comparison to the others, ONLY.

ICAD WK 5- hobby wood 010

Disks, resembling small wheels, again the potential to be anything, really.

ICAD WK 5- hobby wood 012

Cube shapes…

…And popsicle sticks!   I’m floored. I just never knew these little items were in THAT STORE!

I’m going to go the extra mile and say… these tongue depressors might work for a lot of things… but they might not be sterile!!! (or, splinter -free)  So, I don’t recommend using these to, uh…DEPRESS ANYONE’S TONGUE, OKAY?!
These are in the HOBBY WOOD drawer… marked HOBBY and WOOD.  Not the FIRST AID drawer… though, you could use it to set a busted finger probably. If you had some duct tape, that is in the paint department. Winking smile

‘Til next time, shop around-
You never know what you might find!

Did you ever?

Did you ever write a post and hit the publish button-- thinking it was Friday and your post was going to go out in your feed for Saturday?

... And then wake up the next day only to realize It's Friday?

question

No?

Ok well, forget that.

So tonight we hit the trail and headed on over to the next town- we had supper and went shopping afterwards.

Did you ever go into a store and feel like you shopped every department?

We bought a

  • new water filter for the kitchen tap. It didn’t fit and now I have to return it.
  • potting soil, bird feeders, wooden dowels, various assortment of pool chemicals  and CONTRACTOR sized trash bags
  • rit-dye… in a very comforting chocolate brown.
  • DISH SOAP
  • and POP-SICLES!!

The only thing we didn't get on the list was essential oil. I’m looking for lavender or something like that to go in my laundry soap.  I’ve never added scent—but think I might like it.  Did you ever add scent to your homemade laundry soap?

Did you ever check your list with the contents of the buggy; and think we should probably pay and get going before security stops us and we have to sign a Patriot Act and sworn affidavit... OR sit there while they do a background check on us?

Sometimes-- a homesteader’s shopping list just looks suspicious… if not down right curious!

Did you ever think that?

‘Til next time, be blesssed-
