:: De-cluttering Finds and my MODE OF OPERATION

Still working on de-cluttering around the house.  I have my list of To-Do’s …and then of course with the de-cluttering going on, I find something that needs my attention. You know…make a decision already!

I was looking for some paint supplies in my paint closet yesterday; and found these roman shades—by Levilor.SCORE!!… again.  Seriously, I bought these from one of my favorite places to shop… BARGAINLAND!  10 YEARS AGO!!! They were of course second hand—but new and still in the box. Why didn’t I put them up?  They were a ‘someday’ project and then…

roman shades pulled closedYou know, out of sight out of mind.  Not forgotten—just, you know STORED.

But I hung those babies up yesterday!  I love ‘em!

roman shades

They’re very crisp white!  But that’s ok… I have some premium royal trim paint…and this trim will get a new coat of paint!

Just like the trim in the kitchen!  That’s what I did last night…

…yes, I cheated and painted around the chalkboard.  I’ll paint the door again w/o the chalkboard…later.

See that piece of trim running from the door to the wall?  It’s been off for about 10 years. In fact, this isn’t even the same trim—not sure where that trim is—this is a piece from around a door or something, I saw it in the barn this summer when I was taking pictures during the High QUANTITY JUNK EXPONOT FORGOTTEN, JUST STORED.

So ten years for the blinds and ten years for the wood trim… I can’t help but wonder what was going on TEN YEARS AGO…THAT I’D HAVE ALL THESE PROJECTS GOING ON…and not complete them?!?!

Probably nothing… just my M.O. (shhh… you know I procrastinate, right?)  How about it?  Do you have ten year old projects waiting to be completed, tweaked, or abandoned all together?  Do you finish every project you ever start?  If so… ATTA-GIRL! (…or guy…if you’re reading)

Click here for more post on the HQ JUNK XPO and some of the projects I’ve done with my HIGH QUANTITIES OF JUNK…(from the barn)

Occasionally, Chairs

So, I went to town on Monday, to meet my daughter and drop of her children to her after work. On the way home, I just had to turn into the Resource Center. I am still looking for a phonics book. (Abeka Blue-Back Speller, 2nd hand) …that’s my excuse story and I’m sticking to it. :)
Anyway- I found this chair.

HQ Junk Expo

You may remember my “what’s in my barn post?”--when a couple of weeks ago, I took you on a tour of our barn and showed you some of the awesome JUNK that has been stowed away; and some things forgotten about, up in the top or down in the bottom of our Big Barn.

Well then, welcome to my HIGH QUANTITY JUNK EXPO-

::Junker’s Delight- What’s in my Barn?

pallet shed pre-blogging
You’ve read about the new shed. You’ve seen my old shed—being demolished.  (more on this later)
You’ve seen pictures of my barn.  What you haven’t seen is what’s in my barn.  It is a Junker's delight inside that old barn.  I kid you not.  It’s full of junk. But, Don’t you judge me. My garage is like most American Garages in homes all across this great country. Full of junk.
It’s a  W.I.P (work in progress) or more like W.I.P. (waiting in pile)
I like to call it my resource pile—encapsulated in an heritage styled 100 + year old storage unit.
Shamefully, there isn’t just junk inside there.  There is perfectly useable, quality junk! The shameful part?  There is one heirloom inside there. Do you want to see what’s in my barn?

Come along and I’ll show you what has been left and forgotten over the years.

I will probably show you more--
but, I was thinking the other day. Hold on, Big Confession coming up-
I wanted to go thrift shopping, but was broke.  No money in the budget to buy …WHAT?!  MORE STUFF!!!
It occurred to me, I was bored.  I really hope my kids aren’t reading this for two reasons
  1. They were never allowed to say that they were bored.
  2. I DON’T say that I’m bored. Come on you’ve read my blog. I don’t get bored. I can come up with something to do—even if it’s just researching HOW TO DO IT… I don’t get bored.
So, here is the thing. Who needs to shop on the curb, the thrift store or garage sale when you have this type of quality stuff stored , dare I say HOARDED away in the top part of the barn?
So I’m going to get to cracking on some of these items. I’m going to put them to good use. I’m going to make a dent on the quality junk stored in my barn.
I don’t know how long it will go on—but I’m telling you I’m doing it—as accountability. That way I’ll do it.  Then I’ll come back here and show you what I’ve done or what else I’ve uncovered.  It’ll be fun!
I’LL ALWAYS LINK UP TO cATCH aS cATCH cAN PARTY @ MRL
and I believe staying out of the thrift-stores, away from the curb and garage sales and just plain ol’ shopping in general …this post qualifies me to party with Revi @ Thrifty Life Thursdays too!

Til next time, Be Blessed!
