Evolution of a Messenger Bag- part 2

** caution:: while reading this post you may or may NOT be subjected to subliminal imaging resulting in EITHER strong cravings for bananas  OR!  an aversion to GREEN bananas and/or fruit flies. You’ve been warned.
Earlier in the week I showed you my bag I made for school.  It’s a messenger bag.  My pictures were blurry; and I don’t think I gave too many details about it. It is of course recycled materials.

Stubble, Sketch Books and Scribbles

Do you journal privately AND blog?
Many years ago I wrote consistently in a journal and then Jesus FOUND ME. 'Cause I was lost. I did away with those journals.
BURNED THEM. Like stubble… they went up in flames!
Old words , old wounds, old me.
I began journaling with gratitude and thanksgiving and supplication ... But I don't do much of that anymore. I find myself reaching for the keyboard instead.
It’s my priorities that are askew!
I should be writing. I should be journaling. I want to journal. I ask myself who will read it?
Right now, I have garden journals, household/decorating and project journals (kind of a scrap book of sorts); there is a  family Holiday Journal and I have a daily calendar…that is sort of like a journal. It is chock full of appointments, reminders, our budget is tucked inside with due dates and important notices. Another glimpse inside our lives.

Week 9 ICADs—Coming into the finish!

** Just wanted to say a big thank you to all of you my readers and commenters… This past week has been a strange one. Starting out in the ER with the Honey; then being transferred to Dallas—very reminiscent of 4 years ago!  A little bit unsettling too!
We’re home now. Recuperating and hoping to find a doctor that can get to the bottom of his health issues. We have a doctor appointment for NEXT Wednesday…at a different hospital in Dallas.
I will ask that you continue to pray for him and myself, how you feel led by the LORD. Thank you!
********************
Now on with the ICADs!
9 weeks …this is week 8.  So there is one more week to go. At the time I’m finally writing this… Week 9 is almost over…TOMORROW!

I Got My Game On: ICAD WK 6

I ABSOLUTELY LOVED THE PROMPTS FOR THIS WEEK.

What’s more fun than gaming… ?

BOARD-GAMING… FAMILY NIGHT.  Most of these are self-explanatory. You can hover over the picture for the title.

I have been having such a fun time with these cards each week… and it’s winding down now with Week 7 in progress and only 2 more weeks after that.  I might have mentioned this to some of you who’ve commented on the ICADs;  but I’ll say it again here, I think I’m going to purchase a sketch book and incorporate this into my daily activity.  You know, just to see where it goes!  I love journals, so this will be more of an ART JOURNAL rolled into my growing stack of journals.

I’m not sure if you like that sort of thing, or even if you think you don’t have time… I ONLY SPEND ABOUT 5 MINUTES …ON MY CARDS.

Seriously… I’ll wait while you scroll back and look.

Nothing to them really. They are just fun and expressive.  I’m not trying to twist your arm or anything; but I did inspire a friend to create a card…though she is very talented and creative already…

Kristina from Pioneer Woman at Heart!  check out here card!

So anyway…

‘Til Next Time, Be blessed …AND creative!

My ICAD Week 4–It’s Become So Personal Now

image

I’m not going to try and fool you… some of these were hard!

Harder than the week 2 when all of the prompts were FOOD! Believe me, that’s all I thought about that week…food, diabetes, exercise… week 2 was hard!  These were just challenging to my mind and I think my heart, too.  I thought maybe I’d hit a wall. HARD!

Throw back to … well, another time. Winking smile

Romantic?  hopelessly!

This one was corny… but I couldn’t help myself! If you truly know me… well, I’m not a math whiz.  In fact, I don’t like math.  Pie…good. Math…well, without it, there’d be no pie.

Fun!

MORE… Fun!

Dramatic… possibly, my favorite one for week 4.

Thank you for all your sweet comments about my art! You all are very kind.

It got me thinking--

You know how you’ve always heard how some artist, don’t want to show their work until it is completely finished?  Or… they are just never happy with it; maybe they just can’t put the finishing touch on it?

Well, it’s sort of weird showing all these to you… and this week, I had a moment; as I was working on a card, someone, let’s say… interrupted and questioned my method…

I thought I was going to cry and then I just wanted to shred it!  Why?!  it’s just an index card.  I have no idea how to explain it to you; or why it even happened and effected me the way it did.

Silly.

It’s PRIDE.  Mankind’s worst downfall… and biggest sin.

Looking back now, I realize none of these cards sum up who I am… but all of them collectively, are a small representation of my total being, and who I am Serving.  They are little tiny glimpses into my Walk with Christ.

Thank you for letting me share them with you!

‘Til next time, Count your blessings,

Patricia

So then, my beloved, just as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your salvation with fear and trembling;

Going Strong-- ICAD Week 3

** edited to say... for those keeping count, this is actually week 3 for ICAD, not week 4 -- I change the title. ;)
I haven’t blogged much in the past week—but I’ve kept up with other things… like ICAD. Debbie, you asked for a reminder of what it stands for?… INDEX- CARD- A- DAY (you can read about the original ICAD here
image
Except for the index cards, I haven’t bought any supplies.  I’m very low key here in my art adventure. I’ve not even used glue or scissors! Just map pencils, ink pens, or Crayola Markers.

Gail, asked how I had the time for it? … simple, just don’t do anything else!  No, not really.  I kid.
I try not to spend more than 10 mins or so on my little index cards… but I find it so relaxing.

HAD TO GOOGLE WABI-SABI--- had no idea what that was!
  1. Wabi-sabi (侘寂 ?) represents a comprehensive Japanese world view or aesthetic centered on the acceptance of transience and imperfection. The aesthetic is sometimes described as one of beauty that is "imperfect, impermanent, and incomplete".  -Wikipedia

Who hasn’t thought of running away to live in a tree house?

image
Do you see the Snowman?  When you read that… you have to sing that to the tune of “Do You wanna build a Snowman?”
image
Color wheel… probably not accurate. But I used every marker I had! In multiples…
image
I also Googled this one… just to find out the origin of the Smiley Face… since the emoticon has pretty much absconded with all manner of Smiley… It has been around since the 40s and had a reoccurrence in the 60s.  So technically not a 1970s thing…but I was a kid.  I remember the Smiley Face…before texting, and Wal-Mart! Winking smile

‘Til Next time,
which will probably be much sooner than you think. Trying not to neglect the blog, along with other things  I’ll share that with you soon.
Busy Doing!

So shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth; and thy want as an armed man.

ICAD Wk 2–Food AND COMMENT TROUBLES

I wanted to say a big thank you to all of you who left message on the blog last week—when I gave my health report.  I was sort of whiny. :/

Well… I was really whiny. I don’t like whiny.  But anyway—thank you all for your kind words and many suggestions. I do appreciate ya! Winking smile

I mentioned in that post—I felt like I’ve obsessed over the food.  It’s true!

Well, this weeks prompts for the ICAD 61 day challenge for the summer… were all food related!

I stuck with it… and here they are!

**** A note from me: It has been brought to my attention that some are having a problem commenting here at CORN… I have absolutely no reason or understanding why that is.  I regret that you’re not able to comment. I’ve checked and double checked what could be the problem.

I blame GOOGLE + …

Ever since I connected the blog to Google over a year and half ago—I’ve had problems.  Not sure at the moment what to do in order to fix it.
HERE ARE THE MAIN ISSUES:

  • some CAN’T COMMENT
  • some ARE commenting—but their comment is by-passing the email notification TO ME, telling me there is a new comment (so it goes undetected)
  • I don’t see the comment until I log into blogger—and have comments to moderate
  • NOW… some are not even going into my moderation folder… instead, by-passing both MODERATION and EMAIL NOTIFICATION

IT’S CRAZY!

You can of course email me from my profile and at the bottom there in the ORANGE COFFEE POTS… I HAVE AN EMAIL BUTTON. I am so sorry for the inconvenience--- until I can hopefully get it worked out, please bear with me.

My Start up with ART

It is not a competition. It is an endeavor, a goal, a challenge. A little art each day works to instill new creative habits. The only trick is to set aside a pocket of time to squeeze in some art!

Daisy Yellow

This is what the creator of ICAD has to say about the Secret of an INDEX CARD A DAY!

I first came across this last year when I noticed Diane at Lydia’s Post was showing her ICAD once a week on her blog. She is such a wonderful paper artist.  I have had the pleasure of seeing her paper art up close when I was the winner of a sampler of goodies, recently from her blog.

June 1st—she posted her first ICAD FOR 2015--- and I decided right then, I wanted to do it!   Before I even read the ins and outs @ Daisy Yellow; I knew I wanted to take on a small project of creating art everyday.  I’m busy; but I still wanted to try. It’s not a HUGE task…

just one card a day.  I just want to create!

oH, did I tell you it was for 61 days?  June 1- July 31. So far so good!

Here is WEEK 1s creations.  I started out…with only 2 index cards in my possession. Hard to believe… but it’s true! I also started out… Not following the prompts—at first, but caught on soon after!

Not having a theme.  Neither are required… only suggestions.

I got smart at some point and saw another participant had created an INDEX …of the ICAD prompts… so I copied that idea right fast! (I don’t have time to scroll and look at the prompts…  here’s mine.

image

I know I mentioned that I didn’t have a theme… and it is NOT a requirement. But, you know lots of famous artists they have an angle, theme… and THING. Kind of like Dan Piraro…the creator of Bizarro… you know he inserts little images in all his cartoons.

My thing is words. I can’t seem to make a card without a word on it!

you know me…WORDY!

‘Til next time, be blessed!

Drop Cloth Project—Roll-up Shades

I mentioned the other day I was working on a DROP-CLOTH PROJECT for my living room. This has been a long-time place holder on my TO-DO list!
Drop Cloth Roll up shades

I know it’s been that long because one event stands out in my mind and I never wrote about this;  but in October of 2013, I was FINALLY doing it. FINALLY, I was upholstering my couch. I got it done. I had watched tutorials-- and I YOU TUBE'd myself silly.
Settee Final 3
PLEASE, Notice the Mini-blinds and the Drop cloth curtains.

That same year we had been on the receiving end of a "drop off dog" and now TOP DOG- Buster

November came and we had to make a trip to the V.A. For the Honeys 6 mos check up. We had been gone total about 4 hours. I came home to this ...
mini blinds got killed
Not only did his anxiety cause him to chew on my NEW couch…
But he KILLED  my mini-blinds. (there’s a whole video…but I don’t know how to orient the video and make it vertical) You get the idea. K-I-L-L-E-D!!!
That’s when the idea hit me—roll up shades. I had salvaged rescued some match-stick blinds for parts—I don’t have a picture, but they looked similar to this-- image
I kept the hardware, the rope and some of the bamboo.
Fast forward to this week.
DSCF7295
This (below) is the IN PROGRESS picture--  I am using my drop cloth drapes in the picture…here and way up top, to make these roll up shades.  I have one window where the A/C is and I’ll be finished with them. Oh, I have to find and a dowel rod for the middle one… it droops a little. ;)
 Drop Cloth Shades-- in progress

I’m leaving the curtain rod—because I want to make some light softer curtains.  Something with color!  I need to remove the old hardware from other shades too, for now…they keep the rope away from Vincy.
Drop Cloth Roll up shades-3
I finally get to check
✔️ New Shades
Off my list!
That’s it.  I took lots of pictures and will be putting together a tutorial for them pretty soon. Right now I’m gathering information on hardware, prices etc.  I realize not everyone will make these from scraps… but you know here at Corn…
that’s my M.O.
unusual, unexpected and deviation from the common rule.
‘Til next time.
Be a blessing, bless the LORD and bless your home!
