The Official update on the Honey-

Late last week I gave a brief update on the hospital visit in Dallas for The Honey… (if you’re new here… The Honey, is my husband)
I’ve had several of you continue to ask about him, telling me that you’re praying for him and for me; I appreciate that so much! More than you know.

Here is the official update:

He was in the hospital 2 days. They ran tests… and blood work, etc. Then sent him home. He is being referred to a Hepatologist (liver specialist) they will work to find out what is going on with his blood (platelets, wbc, and rbc) they will also try and find out what’s going on with some of his other organs. When we went to the ER 2 weeks ago… it was because his abdomen was hurting him, turns out his gall bladder was giving him problems the ER and the Hospital doctors said he should have it out, but too risky with his liver ‘condition’ …they’re not calling it cirrhosis, yet.  Though, they are leaning that way, they’re a bit puzzled by the fact he’s not a drinker. Hasn’t drank in over 25 years, and he’s never been what I’d call a drunk (didn’t drink daily)… a social drinker. At this point I feel like I’m justifying something to the world, not sure why… except that so many doctors have walked into the room and questioned his drinking habit. It’s almost insulting, if not for the fact that the doctors are presumably stereo-typing my husband… it would be insulting.  What is wrong with asking, “Do you drink?” … why do they, and I’m in no way exaggerating here… but why do they ask,  “How long have you been drinking?” It’s very frustrating.
The specialist we saw this week…says removing his gall bladder is un necessary at this point. She wants to do other tests and biopsy his liver… and is considering the risks. She is also looking at his spleen…his is enlarged.  Since she is a specialist, Hepatologist…  I figure she deals with this a lot and knows that there could be other causes for his troubles.  Anyway,  I like her.  I hope she is able to figure this out so he can get the proper treatment he needs.

No one has given him a special diet, considering his gall bladder is giving him so much trouble.
I’ve taken it upon myself to make sure he is eating healthy. No deep fried foods.   He LOVES ME… but doesn’t like me much right now.  Especially at meal times!

That’s pretty much it for now… I mentioned last week that I had an interesting experience with my ICADs… since it pertains to The Honey and his health… I’ll share it really quickly.
In doing research, my daughter and myself have a suspicion that his illness is AUTO-IMMUNE.  He has other symptoms… that are visible and obvious to me, since I live with him.  I didn’t mention it to the doctor yet… I’m letting her do her thing initially, since it was our first visit.  But the Auto-immune idea is there in the back of our minds.  Anyway… I posted a picture of my hubby on IG  “Mr. Mustache”  and asked for prayers…

One of the ICADers… commented and began emailing me with information on Auto-Immune.  At this point I hadn’t mentioned it to anyone, except my daughter!  She had lots of good information.  Knowledgeable on the subject… I really feel like this was from the LORD… putting us together like that.   I don’t take little things like that lightly.
Sometimes, we do things, and we don’t know why this new thing is happening, or why we chose the path we did… but I’m certain, the ICADs this year, were part of my life… for that moment. That photo. That prayer request.  And that encounter with this woman!
Like I said… we haven’t gotten an official diagnosis yet… but I do have a list of questions… and a direction to go with the doctors!  I’m hopeful.
… and grateful to God for how he works things out!
‘Til next time,be blessed!

I have non alcoholic fatty liver disease that I do not have to treat but people always thin you are a drinker. I have maybe five drinks a year if that! I hope they find the cause of his troubles quickly.

There is another blog I read that she has non alcoholic cirrhosis of the liver. I don't know much about it but have heard of it. I have to agree with you that the doctors could choose their wording better when asking the questions.

Sorry you had to do through that stigma of alcoholic. Doctors sometime have no brain. I believe you are right...connected through God. He works in wondrous ways and in all kind. I pray all goes well with the specialist and you get some good news about hubby!

If anyone can get to the bottom of this, it is you, Patricia.

Good call on the fried food. You can try roasting veggies with coconut oil and healthy seasoning to help replace those foods. I like sweet potato, cut into "fries" or rounds, tossed with coconut oil, paprika and cinnamon; roast at 400 until desired doneness. Coconut oil is good for people with gall bladder / liver issues and for people who have trouble digesting fats. Prayers for The Honey.

My husband has a condition called Hemochromatosis. It is elevated iron in the blood. Over time the iron settles in the organs and can cause heart disease and liver disease including cirrhosis. They only found it accidentally by running liver panels because of a medication he takes. Most times it has already done its damage by the time it is found we were told. Don't know if he has been checked for this, but it is worth a shot.

I'm so glad you posted the picture on IG. Patricia, I will continue to keep you all in my prayers, because this doesn't just concern you and your Honey, but the entire family.

I'm so sorry that they (the drs) stereotyped him in that way. That is just WRONG.

please keep us update when you can. Remember to take care of yourself. You're no good to any of the family if you don't take care of your own health. :)

hugs!

I'm so sorry and hope he gets a cure, for whatever it is, soon and that you all can relax and feel better.
I don't know much about internal conditions, but it seems to me, that they can't diagnose for sure what it is, may really mean it will turn out to be something small or easy to treat. I'll pray that anyway.
